Something I always keep in mind about Melissa is that Burgess purposely played Melissa as a "girl with no game" who somehow managed to bag Shauna. I fear she's one of the most realistic representations of teenage lesbians since Bottoms.

i LOVE how jackiehat works in fleshing out melissa. "girl with no game" is SUCH a funny character type and I think with the isolation of the yellowjackets and shauna's desperation in particular, we never saw melissa hat at her MOST fumbly. jackie's kind of the perfect... brick wall. like a hellish mid point of "oh she thinks my flirting is me being nice" and "oh she didn't hear a word I said" with an undercurrent of "and I'm probably annoying her" that would slowly break down the more melissa lets herself try (after MANY mental peptalks) to talk to jackie.
also: i typically interpret jackie as more self-aware than most, so I think she'd probably get a liiiiiittle kick out of playing dumb to melissa's nervy compliments
