I’ve stumbled across my first Jack/Simon fanfiction, and I can only say I am very pleasantly surprised. The idea has never crossed my mind as Jack and Simon barely interact in the original story, but then neither do Roger and Simon, who are quite often employed as foils in the Jack/Ralph stories.

All of these ships have interesting dynamics, but then I realize Jack/Simon would probably be the ultimate yin and yang combination - Simon is quiet, Jack is loud-mouthed. Simon is introverted, Jack is extroverted. Simon is timid, Jack is confident. Simon is nice, Jack is quite ruthless.

They are the ultimate polar opposites of the book, more than any other two characters, and the idea of a small, shy simon holding some sort of control over the wild, big bully Jack, who cannot be controlled by anyone, is absolutely beautiful.

LOTF-RELATED ANNOUNCEMENT

So I just decided it would be okay to ship two conflicting ships, therefore I started officially shipping Jacksi! I think they’re great since I headcanon Jack as having a lot of problems in his life and Simon would be super nice and helpful with it. I also might go on hiatus from my current fanfic project to write something with this ship because it has no fanfiction and that pains me.

yes!!here’s a few

-on the island, simon always is there to try and comfort Jack down. He won’t hunt or do anything from Jack’s command, but he will comfort him, and try to get him to apologize to Ralph whenever he snaps at him.-non-island,, at school Jack struggles with math and Simon is always trying to help him. So Jack has Simon become his tutor but the entire time it’s just him flirting with Simon while he’s trying to teach-SIMON ALWAYS TENDS TO JACK’S WOUNDS, ALWAYS ALWAYS. ON THE ISLAND AND BACK AT HOME.

I think people also often forget how simon liked jack almost as much as he liked ralph, as in the lord of the flies scene simon admitted he also liked jack, despite jack probably being an asshole to him when they were in the choir
