letter from the refuge 🕯
JackxCruchie should be called crack
🎶two bros chilling on a rooftop, no feet apart ‘cause they are gay🎶
Okay so am I the only JackCrutchie shipper that’s getting slightly infuriated? Because when I look up the ship all I get is JackCructhieDavey and I don’t shIP JackCrutchieDavey someone just please give me some good ol JackCrutchie I’m begging you
One thing that really bugs me is it's never fully clarified that Jack took Pulitzer's deal, not for the money, but for Crutchie and all the other kids; he's not that interested in the deal when Pulitzer mentions money, not even ready to deal when Catherine is revealed to be his daughter
But Crutchie? Everything changes when he's mentioned. Everything about Jack changes; his whole demeanor goes from "watch me defy you" to "dont you dare, please dont you dare"... And they lock him up in the basement, and he's mad; because what is he supposed to do?
Keep fighting when he knows Crutchie--and so many other kids--are going to be subjected to the Refuge? The Refuge that Jack hates, fears, suffers over; Crutchie being beat and taken and left to rot in the Refuge is all it takes to break Jack's will to fight. So a threat to an already vulnerable best friend, plus the threat of all his other kids being taken and mistreated?
Jack doesnt have a choice (especially when he already foresaw this coming after the first riot); he takes the deal. But all everyone else sees is the money being exchanged; and even then, Jack isnt too excited about being handed a wad of cash (enough to go to Santa Fe, enough for Jack's dream)
He didnt take the deal for the money; he took it for his kids, for Crutchie, and literally no one is told this...
you could really just do a gay love story in newsies on stage. like “oh it’s not historically accurate” bitch you actually trynna tell me two boys didn’t kiss when they won the strike? get the hell outta here
Linus writing to the great pumpkin is Jack kelly drawing/dreaming/talking about Santa Fe and yes that makes Sally Crutchie or Davey or both, whatever your ship is.
Come to the Newsies fandom. We have Crack. (Crutchie/Jack)
