The ubiquitous rooftop atelier affording views over a Parisian cityscape was a dream come true for a young Jacques Grange, who first saw the building at the age of fifteen. A beige leather sofa by Pierre Chareau, Jean-Michel Frank stools and a door handle by Ruhlmann are some of the notable collections that contributed to an aesthetic which Grange referred to as “Art Deco Colonial”. A 1930s vignette in the seductive haute-couture salon designed by Jacques Grange for Parisian collectors features the finest of its era: a shagreen-covered table by Jean-Michel Frank from the house of Elsa Schiaparelli in front of a Pierre Chareau sofa with tapestry upholstery by Jean Lurçat.
