Could I ask what you thought of character motivations in Dr Strange? I had really hard time buying almost anyone's reasons for doing anything in that movie, and was wondering if it's just me.

I didn’t really see a problem with them, to be honest. Nobody was acting especially irrationally and everyone’s motivations were pretty clearly articulated, even when in like Mordo’s case it’s just “look he’s super traumatized by some shit that went down in his past”. Strange’s motivations are pretty evident and while we don’t know what exactly the Ancient One’s battles were, she talked a lot about preventing the worst futures and protecting the planet, so presumably whether or not they were GOOD reasons, they were compelling ones. 

Even Mads Mikkelson articulates several times why he wants to bring Earth into the Dark Dimension, and while it seems SUPER OBVIOUS to all of us that it’s a VERY BAD IDEA, he’s also referred to as a zealot often enough for us to read in that while he has an incomplete understanding of existence in the Dark Dimension, he’s so driven by base emotions of fear and a weird mid-life teenage rebellion against the Ancient One that he’s past caring. He’s basically a climate-change denying Republican really.  

I did have a lot of problems with the movie, but character motivation wasn’t really one of them for me, I suppose.

Thanks everyone.  It’s nice to know that I’m not totally crazy. I think I’m letting them get to me today because one of their girlfriends brought over her two dogs and let them shit in the parking area and didn’t clean it up. I could maybe think that she just didn’t have a bag for the car ride over, but I took my dogs out like 10 minutes later and it was still there so IDK. I’m just irritable today I guess.

I read a theory somewhere (wish I remembered the source) that speculated that Nat wasn’t in love with Bruce (and I think everyone can agree that Bruce acted uncomfortable the whole movie). Instead, the theory went that Nat only flirts with men she needs to control, and, combined with the fact that she seemed to be in charge of unhulking Bruce, it may have made sense to her to ‘tame’ him further by using her charms. She was upset at the end of the movie because her usually flawless game failed.

That’s a good one.  My own “romanogers” headcanon is that, starting even in Winter Soldier, she’s basically sublimating her growing feelings for Steve into finding him “dates”, convincing him to go out with other girls, she’s convincing herself “see I’m being a good friend, I have friendly feelings, this is what friends do”.   So she goes on her sabbatical after WS, comes back when the Avengers start taking out Hydra bases and yada yada yada, Bruce is available, he’s NOT Steve, she does like him, he’s a good guy aside from the green rage monster thing and so relatively speaking it’s safe.  That isn’t to say she’s toying with Bruce, lots of this is subconscious, she’s genuinely trying to figure out how to have a relationship with him but it’s also something that won’t be totally devastating if it doesn’t work which IMO doesn’t reduce the courage it takes her to try and open herself up like that.  Not everyone can jump in at the deep end, doesn’t mean they won’t learn to swim all the same.

That’s on her side, Steve has his own thing going on with regards to Nat but this is about Nat.  So tl;dr headcanon is: Steve and Nat like each other as more than friends but don’t think the other one does see them that way and don’t want to make it weird or awkward or “ruin the friendship” so they keep focusing on other people when what they really want is each other. :D  Weird Bruce/Nat thing explained in a way that doesn’t make me want to tear my hair out.
