jadewing Is batch testing a valid option for these tests?

When I last tested you could batch test up to 24 animals with the qPCR for $500 through UF (this does not include vet fees). The great thing about the qPCR is that it’s more sensitive than the standard PCR, the downside is it can only detect one strain (Giessen). There is no batch testing available for the standard PCR, which can detect multiple strains, but there used to be a group discount after 9 animals that reduced the cost to $100 per animal. I’m uncertain if they’re still honoring that and I don’t know the extent of the price changes at this point in time.

There are a few labs that claim cheaper tests, but I would be wary of using any lab that isn’t in active research when it comes to arenavirus.
