OKAY SO @lonleyzodiac and i have been developing an extremely silly heavily greek mythology-inspired au where the ninja + (mostly) pre-DR EMs (along with characters like misako, harumi and pixal (though pixal’s moreso just a patron than an actual goddess)) are all gods, goddesses and deities!! it’s called the ambrosia wine (AW for short) au, both because of the madds buckley song ambrosia wine and a specific plotline in the AU that i’ll get to in this infodump!!
basic info before the cut that’s semi-important for if you want to keep reading and stuff: they/them pronouns for AW!lloyd and the FSM, the ships in this au are conductor (kai x jay x zane, important to the equivalent of skybound), lost/geode (cole x geo, important to. the flipping eros & psyche retelling that happens with them), royalty/jadewing (vania x harumi) and garmasako
anyways uhhhh here’s a massive infodump about it!! this was a draft from a while ago that i decided to finish now so ya
firstly i’ll get into the gods themselves, one very important thing to note is that most of the characters are gods of several things and sometimes characters will be the gods of the same domains as eachother (e.g. both lloyd and misako are gods of intelligence, but lloyd’s domain focuses more on strategy and misako’s focuses more on memory and education). i won’t get into the ToE elemental masters too much but they are gods, just more minor. also something funny from a lot of mythologies that we put in is that sometimes gods will be the gods of some incredibly random stuff + patron gods of places and things
again a lot of the worldbuilding, as well as the plot itself, is heavily inspired by greek mythology
lloyd: deity of life, energy, strategy and intelligence
cole: god of earth, death and music
jay: god of lightning, storms, craftsmanship, repair, beauty and love
kai: god of fire, blacksmithing, the sun and war
nya: goddess of the sea, sea creatures, water in general and rain
zane: god of ice, snow, the cold, archery and the moon
wu: god of creation and mortals
garmadon: god of chaos and destruction
pixal: patron of mortals (though not a goddess of them) and just someone who likes to handle mortal affairs, especially when the others can’t be bothered
FSM: literal god of gods, creator of the realms + many of the gods/figures (except from misako, geo, harumi, arin, sora and wyldfyre because they were once mortal)
misako: goddess of intelligence and scribing, patron goddess of historians, researchers and literature
morro: god of the wind and souls, has some power over storms but ehhhh that’s kinda iffy
harumi: goddess of bugs and revenge, ferrywoman of the cursed/departed realms alongside vania (psychopomp)
geo: god of art
vania: ferrywoman of the cursed/departed realms, helps comfort the souls onboard the boat
currently i have two stories/myths mapped out that i might??? write but i don’t like writing multichapters all that much so have them in this. format
1. THE PLOTLINE THAT GAVE THIS AU ITS NAME
PICTURE THIS. you're cole. patron god of shintaro (and stiix but that doesnt matter rn). your best friend, jay, is a beauty + love god. cool. fun. and then you fall for a mortal devotee of yours, geo. (the following is largely copy and pasted from a discord server im in
that’s what happens!! jay, being the insane (/aff) god of beauty he is (equivalent of aphrodite), recognises cole’s massive crush on geo and, when geo’s pretty much fully alone because he’s still horribly treated for being a geckle/munce hyrbid, comes to him and is like “heyyyyyyyy so uhh you’re kinda doomed to marry a horrible monster”. cole’s been sending his blessings and his luck to geo in exchange for the offerings he gives him (they often are crystals and gems that he finds while working) and they help geo escape shintaro and seek out this “horrible monster”
surprise surprise he finds the “monster” and it’s cole!! it’s worth noting that geo reciprocates cole’s feelings, though to a slightly lesser extent (though that’s not saying much, as cole is HEAD OVER HEELS for this mortal) and they chat for a bit, actually fall in love and maybe even kiss but idk but cole ends up leaving
jay and kai start SCHEMING and come up with an idea to test if geo’s worthy enough for cole: to put him through trials, essentially torture this poor mortal cole fell in love with, but geo through his insane luck (and a few of the other gods because they’re also kinda sick of jay and kai (but mainly jay) doing stuff like this) ends up beating all the challenges and yayyy him and cole live happily ever after!!!!
geo, in true psyche fashion, winds up becoming a god - the god of art :3
cole is also the ruler of the spectral lands (cursed + departed realms) so. they rule together
2. YURI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this takes place a little after cole and geo’s whole deal, by now geo’s pretty used to his new life
cole also has eyes for another one of his devotees, but this time it’s in a platonic way: queen vania of shintaro. she gives him flippin awesome offerings and is DEVOTED so when she dies cole surprises her by making her into a PSYCHOPOMP ON THE DESTINY’S TRAIL (the equivalent of the river styx)
but however who’s also on the destiny’s trail?? harumi! so cole decides to plonk her on the boat with harumi to be a ferrywoman. this is because jay pulled him aside and was like “DUDE put her with rumi i KNOW they’ll have chemistry” and at this point the gods have learnt to not doubt jay when he says people have chemistry, he is a love god after all so ya. vania’s tasked with comforting the souls of the dead that they transport. harumi at this point only really has two friends: geo, because they’re nearby eachother and geo was pretty much immediately drawn to her when he became a god, and lloyd, a deity she likes to bully (in jest) for the funsies (note: there’s no llorumi in this, lloyd is aroace)
at first, vania and harumi either don’t like eachother or just don’t mind eachother. however after spending more and more time together, they grow closer and vania finds herself falling in love with her. she fell hard but harumi fell harder ig
and yeah they do eventually get together!!
i will make more stories/myths for this eventually that i might post about!
anyways for another thing, here are the places the main gods are the patrons of!!
FSM, wu, garmadon, lloyd and misako: practically worshipped everywhere with really no set location that they’re the patron gods of?? potentially just ninjago
cole: shintaro, stiix and spectral lands
kai: ignacia and the surrounding area
jay: cloud kingdom
nya: merlopia
zane: never realm and small communities in the birch forest
morro: stiix and spectral lands (him and cole are sharing ok)
the gods are worshipped everywhere, but these are the places where they’re worshipped the most + places where they’re officially the patrons of ya
some misc notes:
- jay is genderfluid, and mortals in the au universe interpret him like this to represent how beauty can be anything (and also because genderfluid jay is peak)
- the name ‘destiny’s trail’ was made by @geoxstxrs!!! BANGER NAME
- misako practically yoinks geo as her kid after she hears about everything he went through as a mortal
- there’s rgb siblings here
- i don’t really have any plans for the DR kids YET, one idea i had is that arin and sora were mortals that lloyd took on as proteges but then arin went off with ras like in canon? idk yet!!
- fritz, spitz and bonzle were mortal kids that were in need so cole and geo basically yoinked them as their own kids
- jay and nya are besties, so are jay and cole
- nya is usually referred to as the ‘lady of the ocean/sea’ by mortals because they’re terrified of her wrath, similar to how many worshippers of persephone referred to her in ancient greece
- the goddess you should really worry about in terms of wrath is misako but eh nya’s also terrifying (misako is lovely but can also be TERRIFYING when she wants to. oh well we love her anyways go queen)
