Okay so I haven't posted in a while but I'm one of the many people out for snow days so it works in my favor!
So let's talk about something I'm excited for when it comes to Seven Havens: Pavi and Nisha's relationship!
One thing Atla/Tlok has never let us down with is sibling relationships. For example, Katara and Sokka, Zuko and Azula, Lin and Suyin, etc.
So the idea of the new protagonists being twin Avatars in a world that hates them? You cannot tell me that is not an interesting (if angsty) setup!
If Pavi is growing up homeless and Nisha is growing up in the White Lotus, that means they had to be separated young right? Was it by force? Choice? Accident? Pavi is missing a leg.
Or were they even younger? Do they even know of each other's existence?
So much storytelling and drama potential. I approve. 👍🏾
But I also want some comedic/wholesome moments as well.
The twins arguing absolute nonsense in the middle of a fight scene.
Jae probably having to break them up too. Or maybe he's also an instigator of sorts. That would be pretty fun too.
Ah, yes the world is ending and humanity's fate rests in the capability of three bickering children. We are definitely not doomed 🤣
Let's start with the most noticeable aspect of the new series: animation. The creators said they were taking inspirations from 90s style anime and leaning more into fantasy side of Avatar, which already had me excited, but then the trailer dropped and.....
Y'all I love it so much you don't even know!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I understand why some people don't like it because it is a very different style than what we've seen before with Avatar but I kinda like that each Avatar’s story has their own unique style/theme-it's their story of the Avatar.
But I definitely think overall it's going to make for some interesting fight scenes and cinematic moments.
II. Setting
Now I have seen a lot of people saying their disappointed that Avatar is moving away from its asian influences and while I myself am not asian in any way I don't think it's as far removed as some people think.
Both Pavi and Nisha are South Asian with South Asian actresses this also applies to characters Karthik who haven't been introduced to yet.
Both names are of Sanskrit orgin, (Again, someone feel free to fact check me on that cause I might be wrong) and I believe Elora City-the first haven we're going to see-is inspired by a religious site in India.
Pretty much I just think people should hold off before jumping to conclusions.
....But while we are on the topic of Elora 🤔
I didn't want to say anything until we saw more but the official art of Pavi reminds me of the Great Divide in ATLA. Now seeing Elora City in full there is a definite resemblance.
There are also two cities that kind of look like Zaofu and Republic City but I'm not as confident about those.
(Zaofu)
(Republic City)
III. Relationships
Judging on how the trailer is set up, I'm thinking the narrator for the series is either going to be Karthik or Jae. Maybe even both considering we're going to be following two avatars.
Something that does interest me though is Nisha's reaction to seeing Pavi. Nisha looks grateful and relieved, hugging Pavi and seeming more shocked than surprised.
In contrast, all the art, trailer, and official information we have about Pavi paints as apprehensive or cautious with her being surprised about even having a sister!
I think its likely Nisha was told Pavi died/disappeared but Pavi was never told about Nisha. (Or if she was she doesn't remember her anymore.)
Somthing also worth noting Pavi's brooch was intially seemed to be hair clip. In the beginning of the trailer it almost looks Jae’s returning it to her. I wonder if its going to play a significant part in her character. (Like Mako's scarf)
IV. Timeline
The show is definitely set farther into the future. There's mentions of things like their ancestors, there's a very obvious tech upgrade from Korra, and the cities seem bigger than we initially thought. I'm also unsure if the scene of Korra is what she actually looked like or how Pavi/the world sees her. Because Zuko initially thought Aang was going to be a an old man and it could be a good way to contrast the truth with our perception of it.
And if that is how Korra actually looked when she died....
1. She looks fine AF
2. She looks to be about late 40s-to early 50s (Sorry Korra fans I gave y'all false hope 😔😮💨😥 at least she probably lived to be older than Kuruk though 😅)
Bonus:
Not technically related to the trailer but thought it should still be included.
No clue who are Agam and Zi are-we haven't heard anything about them yet. But knowing Avatar is trying to match voice actors to character's culture + the name conventions of the fire nation: I'm thinking Zi is a firebender. (Watch me be totally wrong and they're actually a waterbender somehow 😮💨)
Please! Please! Let this leak be true! Pretty Please!
16 episodes instead of 13 would be a dream especially in this shortened seasons day and age. It would also give us time to actually develop and get attached to the characters something which I feel newer shows tend to struggle with.
You have no idea how happy this would make especially with the leaks of it being renewed for two more seasons.
It's probably unlikely but a girl can dream, right?
I realized that in animation, I don’t feel attracted to after Jae as I did initially. Mainly because of two reasons, 1) baby ass face, and 2) i hope my fav character cracks a man. Give him some game. If he doesn’t, I know some guys to help his game.
