You watched him nearly collapse on the hardwood floor, his shirt covered in sweat and sighing once the cool surface hit his back. You couldn’t help but to grimace slightly, sitting next to him but keeping your distance by at least a foot to make sure your body heat didn’t make him feel any warmer than he already was. 

He took shallow deep breaths, his eyes closed and the beginning of his hair sticking to his forehead. You run your fingertips over his arm, tracing a familiar vein as he just barely peers through his lashes, giving you an exhausted smile. You could only frown when you felt how hot his arm was, completely spent from practicing so hard. 

“You okay?” He asked you, his breathing stabilized as he threaded your fingers with his. 

You couldn’t help but to roll your eyes and shake your head, “I’m fine, dummy. I’m just worried about you. I’m scared that you’re going to hurt yourself.” 

Jaehyun’s newest comeback was around the corner, spending most nights and the majority of the day inside of the practice room on his own volition. He wanted everything to be perfect, he didn’t want a single misstep or trip do be in his routine. 

It had been a few days since you had seen each other up until he invited you to visit him at the the practice room, where you had watched him dance and dance until he ended up on the floor like he is now. 

He quickly sat up, a bit too quickly as you noticed him blinking quickly before shaking his head. You roll your eyes and hand him a cookie that you bought before you came over, resting your head against your hand as your elbow rested against the table, making sure to glare at Jaehyun as he ate. 

“I get that you want to be perfect, Jaehyun. And it’s endearing that you’re this dedicated to your fans, but I’m not stupid,” you point out the bruises on his elbows and forearms to which he pulls down his sleeves and waved a dismissive hand. 

“I’m fine, I promise. These are from when I fell down the stairs this morning.”

“How did you fall down the stairs to begin with, baby?” You pressed, “because Johnny told me this morning it was because you were feeling dizzy.”

Jaehyun narrowed his eyes, “snitch.” 

“If you took care of yourself Johnny wouldn’t have to snitch, my love.” You carded a free hand through his hair, not caring that it was sweaty against your fingertips. “I’m just worried, that’s all.”

“I know,” he sighed. You watched as he grimaced, his left dimple poking out in concentration as he stared in his lap. 

“What?”

“It’s just kind of crazy, when you think about it,” he started with a laugh. “I never would’ve thought that I would be in the place that I am now. I guess I had an idea when I joined the company, but I didn’t expect to be signed by a western music company and be so…”

“Famous?” You finished with a smile, pinching his cheek. 

Jaehyun snorted, “I guess. I don’t want to make it sound like I’m complaining though. I just want to do really well, now that the world is turned to look at us.” 

“You’re amazing, Jaehyun. You’ll do amazing and you’ll be amazing after that.” 

Jaehyun gave a bashful smile, playing with the hem of his pants before he found your hands again, “I love you.” 

You pressed a small kiss to his nose before he pecked your lips, “I’ll make you so proud of me.”
