Do you ship Yancy and Simon? I think they’d be a very funny ship ^^

Yes!! Kinda!! They're definitely not platonic and they're defffffffff not familial. They have too much homoerotic tension to be just friends but they're both so emotionally stunted they wouldn't be the best partners either. Yancy doesn't like showing off his soft side when he can avoid it, especially after Simon rejects his friendship so many times at the start. But he can't help but see himself in Simon and know that he has the same type of distrust in the world that Yancy does. Simon currently acts how Yancy did in the worst period of his life, and despite how much Yancy tries to pretend that he's tough, he's got a bleeding heart, especially for fellow criminals like him. Simon especially seems to be a product of his circumstances which Yancy relates to deeply. It takes Simon a long long time to be able to accept Yancy's affection and protection as anything other than attempts to patronize or embarrass him. But once they get past that hill they form an unspoken bond to have each others back, and to perhaps each provide the other with a little reprieve from the act of trying to be anything other than what they are.

In other words, Simon's the only one in the person that's heard Yancy without his accent. (See my last ask response for hcs on that)
