Keegan Connor Tracy Jake 2.0 (2003)
.
I know youâve been mostly in Star Trek mode so far, but I canât let a Bathtub Q & A go by without some Jake 2.0 rep, so: what would Jake and Diane get each other for their first Christmas? (They can be together or not yet, your call). Bonus: what would Jake get Kyle?
AAAA! JAKE 2.0!!!!! đđđ
None of you know what that show is and you are MISSING OUT, it was half a season of pure amazingness in like. 1999 maybe?? it helpdesk nerd with heart of gold works for NSA and accidentally gets enhanced with superhero nanites in VERY early beta and the NSA is like ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ i guess better make him a spy?? doesnât matter but there's an amnesia arc thatâs possibly the best fanfic iâve ever read except i could WATCH it with my EYES.
jake is VERY stressed out about this whole Christmas Present thing because what does he get her? is it too forward? not forward enough?? even if he KNEW how forward to be he is completely helpless????? jerry is like âbro i got u let me helpâ and itâs a disaster and the foley brothers have to abort mission, long story short jake and diane each get each other the same boggle dictionary for christmas.
jake gets kyle âvery coolâ sunglasses that kyle refuses to wear.
On Jake 2.0 and h/c stuff
I was thinking about Jake 2.0, and how the show ran for only 16 episodes, yet during those sixteen episodes:
- Jake is attacked in the NSA lab and accidentally got his body infected with nanobots/"nanites" that give him superpowers and lead to all the rest of the shenanigans. Diane tends to him and helps him understand how the nanites work (including the possibly lethal side effects).
- The nanites start acting wonky, giving him weird hallucinations and dizzy spells until his whole body shuts down and Diane has to reboot him so he won't die.
- Jake loses his memory and becomes a professional fighter, and Diane finds him and brings him back (after almost sleeping with him).
- He is caught in an explosion and comatose, at which point he starts to communicate silently with Diane through the computers and she has to figure it out.
- He tries to upgrade himself with more nanites against Diane's orders and accidentally blinds himself until she can fix him again.
So that's almost a third of the episodes (possibly more, if I've forgotten something) that read like freaking hurt/comfort shipper fics. No wonder I loved this show.
