James II of Scotland (1430-1460) was the son of James I of Scotland and Joan Beaufort. He had a twin brother, Alexander Stuart, Duke of Rothesay, who died shortly after birth.
He inherited the throne at the age of seven, following the assassination of his father in Perth on February 21, 1437.
James II died as a result of a cannon explosion, due to a lack of experimentation with gunpowder.
