Grandson of Chaplin, comedian, actor, dancer, acrobat, musician and director, James Thierrée is a talented artist... Room, the new play he imagined with La Compagnie du Hanneton, created at the Théâtre de Carouge in 2022 before a tour that stops at the Théâtre du Châtelet, illustrates a joyful mix of genres. Surrounded by thirteen circus musicians in a bedroom setting with decrepit walls, he explores the burlesque aporias of languages – words, notes, bodies. Beyond the imprint of his grandfather's art, James Thierrée develops a cartoon-like universe, which weaves a complicity with the public over the succession of sketches, in a playful and festive vein that has never what to do with barriers between registers and directories.
Glen Hansard Drops Music Video For "I'll Be You, Be Me"
Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard has released the music video for his new single “I’ll Be You, Be Me“, which you can view below. For the video, Hansard has recruited friends and collaborators including James Thiérrée, a circus performer and violinist who also happens to be the grandson of Charlie Chaplin. Shooting the video in Paris, Hansard says, “The video was shot at night on Jan 13th & 14th in a former boxing ring, now La Grande Salle at the Jacques Lecoq International School of Theatre on 57 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, Paris. It was made in collaboration with François Lecoq, James Thiérrée, Olivier Brandicourt, Maire Saaritsa, Myles O’Reilly and Simon O’Neill, along with François Lecomte and the 2nd year students of the Lecoq School who generously gave their time and spirit to the project.”

Thierrée is just not afraid to send waltz codes of ballet. Rather than using the scene - too banal - he spreads the show to the four corners of the palace, sifted for the occasion: in the grand staircase, in the foyer, in the corridors and even in the basements. His creatures, concealed behind masks of tasseled fencers, wander among the spectators who have been instructed never to stop wandering."

A good close up of the 'salamander' above ^ I stumbled upon this modern dance act through Instagram tags, the videos people have uploaded are beautiful. I am definitely adding James Thierrée to my "incredible people I admire" list.
