Atomic Habits Book Review: 8-Actionable Points
Free Cheat sheets included
I recently listened (audible) through the Atomic Habits Book. It just took me 20 days to finish the whole thing. And I want to share some very important points or highlights of the book. This is pretty much the gist of the book.
8-points, Here we go:
1. Habits follow Cue, Craving, Response, and Reward pattern
Cue: I am stressed
Craving: I am craving food or a cigarette
Response: I find ice cream in the fridge. I eat it.
Reward: I am happy and satisfied.
2. Habits should have a tracker
When you do a bad habit or a good habit, write them down as a list. Don’t judge yourself. Just write them down so you make them obvious.
Once you track them, you replace bad responses with good responses. For example:
Cue: I am stressed
Craving: I am craving food or a cigarette
Response: I will go and exercise, happy hormones release.
Reward: I am happy and satisfied.

After a bit of a disappointing start to my 2020 reading challenge, I think my literary intake for February has more than made up for it! After a few weeks on a course in Kingston, Ontario, a week in the classroom, and a week in the field, I managed to add 5 more books to my read shelf. February’s reading haul included the 5th and 6th books in the Sharpe series that covers Lt Richard Sharpe’s adventures at the Siege of Copenhagen and in Spain during the Peninsula War; Jocko Willink’s newest take on leadership and the tactics and strategies learned from the battlefield and in business that can be utilized in many walks off life; Simon Sinek’s leadership philosophy on starting with the “Why” of a group’s mission over the “What” or “How”; and finally James Clear’s guide on the science and art of habit building for the purposes of self improvement. Let’s see what I can read come March! 😊 #febuaryreads #2020readingchallenge #bookstagram #books #bernardcornwell #sharpesrifles #sharpesprey #jockowillink #leadershipstrategyandtactics #simonsinek #startwithwhy #atomichabits #jamesclear @jockowillink @simonsinek @jamesclear (at Aldershot, Nova Scotia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9NZDoop0Sv4JwSsh5z1Ukd9IbehhrhQi1DmDk0/?igshid=1bytu331tsb8a
This bit of wisdom caught my attention. Especially since I do struggle when motivation dips. It’s the habits, rituals, and support structures we can put in place that will keep us moving towards our goals. #abundancemindset #unstuckyourself #ownyournetworth #hatchinganegg #growrich #addvalue #healthyhabits #morningrituals #financialindependence #earlyretirement #fit2finance #empoweredwomen #wednesdaywisdom #jamesclear https://www.instagram.com/p/BpCO-_OF_Pq/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1m8m9or2gzgnf
