Hey has anyone checked on Jamie Collins.
And also earlier when she says that her dad doesn't think of her as a real person, just a girl who'll grow up to be a devoted little mother. . . the horrors of being a young teenage girl.

just finished Tex
It was SO GOOD.
honestly my favorite of the s. e hinton books other than the outsiders ofc
tex and mason = ponyboy and darry
i loved that we got to see more of like horses and rodeos because that’s in the outsiders too a little bit and it’s so fun to think about
I AM IN LOVE WITH TEX MCCORMICK.
why are there so many johnnys and bobs in these books?? like i know you can come up with “original” names, s. e hinton. just look at the curtis brothers. HOLY MARK JUMPSCARE- im actually so depressed why must he have turned out like that :( my baby :(
tex and jamie are cute i guess, i mean not really because jamie does NOT seem NEARLY as down bad for him as he is for her but whatever ig. if he’s happy im happy.
they do have some really amazing wonderful dialogue though and i love tex’s teenage boy thoughts about her they make me laugh
like why is the very first thing when she comes to see him in the hospital him getting hard. tex, come on man, really??? you almost died. 💔🥀
i want someone to draw johnny and tex on their motorcycle that would be cutesy - i would but I can’t draw
pop was giving rusty-james memory also i don’t like him
ARGHHH… WHEN I GET YOU BRYON…. it’s genuinely all his fault #IHateBryonDouglas if he hasn’t SENT MARK TO JAIL mark would have stayed okay
oh yeah and cathy was the teacher which was cool. i hope she beat bryon’s ass at the funeral.
genuinely who names their horse negrito though…
also the part where lem and everyone sneaks into johnny and jamie’s house to tell them about his baby was really funny.
like the mental image of tex literally like slithering around their house hiding from Cole because that’s just normal and jamie casually sleeping armed at all times
and them all randomly climbing through the window and giggling and trying to be quiet and shoving each other off the bed like STOP ITS SO CUTE
also there’s like a part where tex says it’s embarrassing that he’s never been drunk and he’s 15 which was flabbergasting because um, 15 year olds should not be drinking at all
i might love tex as much as i love ponyboy which is a lot
VERY VERY VERY VERY good book please read 👍
there are people who go places and people who stay… GAIGWUPGWUOCAHCOHCOC
Jamie: “if you weren’t emotionally ready, would you want to have sex?”
Tex: “baby, I don’t even understand the question.”
I need more people to be aware of my headcanon that Mona Collins from Tex is a Shepard
She's described as having dark blue eyes, and the Collins kids have either blonde hair (from Cole) or black hair (presumably from Mona). Black hair and dark blue eyes are the Shepard family trademark and I remember when I first read Tex they were the first thing I thought of when I read her description.
I believe I did the math a while ago, and she'd have to be about 7 years older than Tim, which would make a sort of big age gap with Curly and Angela but it's not too unusual.
I also love the idea of Angela being Jamie's cool single aunt who teaches her all her feminist (womens lib ig since it's the 70s) stuff.
That is all thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
How tall do you headcanon both greaser and soc girls to be?
Greasers:
Sylvia- 5'11. Tall girl rep lol. She still wears heels, but low-ish ones because she's lowkey insecure about being so tall. She's been mistook for a man before when she's not all dressed up and has a bit of a complex about it. Tends to dress hyperfeminine to make up for it.
Evie- 5'7. She's also insecure about her height but any time she complains about it Sylvia looks like she's about to start killing people so she doesn't talk about it much anymore. Her and Steve are the same height, technically, but Evie's maybe a little taller because unlike Steve she isn't rounding up
Angela- 5'2/3ish, but wears high heels to pass as like 5'5/6. She's got a very small build, but the kind where it's all proportional and you can't really tell she's tiny unless you're face to face with her. Like from a distance/in photos she looks average height.
Sandy- 5'4. Pretty standard height. Just the right amount of shorter-than-Soda. She sort of wishes she was taller but she isn't sure if it's because she actually wants to be tall or because she wants to be like Sylvia. She'd never admit that out loud though. It'd do more for Sylvia's ego than Sandy thinks she deserves.
Socs:
Cherry- 5'5. Also a standard height. Idk I don't have much to say about it because I mostly just picture her verbatim as Diane Lane (who is actually like 5'7, but idk Cherry just gives me 5'5 vibes)
Marcia- 5'2. Pretty short! Doesn't mind it much. I’m split because a-part of me wants her to be taller but yeah idk in the same way Cherry has 5'5 vibes Marcia has 5'2 vibes to me
Miscellaneous:
Cathy Carlson- 5'8- I feel like she needs to contrast Angela, since Bryon emphasizes how different the two are in looks and personality. When she starts dating Ponyboy at the end of TWTTIN she's like two inches taller than him, and then within the year Ponyboy hits a growth spurt and ends up 5’10. They both think it's hilarious.
Jamie Collins- 5'3, because Tex calls her older brother short a lot so she's gotta be short too (even though that's not how it works irl. fuckin' hate when little sisters r taller than older brothers oml) (im. projecting)
Tex doodles bc its the cutest movie ever 🙏
I think jamie would put tex's hair in a cute lil ponytail and he pretends he thinks it looks dumb and that hes only wearing it bc she did it, but he loves it and thinks it suits him (it does)
okay okay okay I know I said I would wait until I finish the book again until I made this post but, um. no.
also I can always make a more comprehensive one later
So. Idk how people generally analyse Tex (something I should look into probably), but I feel like a major theme is how interpersonal relationships tie into identity and the way people live? exist? are? in general.
Mainly through using Tex and Mason as foil characters, you can really see how this plays out.
When someone asks my favorite SE Hinton character and I have to pull out Tex McCormick
