Western Union strikers leave the line for a snack between picketing stints at a cafeteria at 147 Broadway, January 13, 1946. They got coffee and eats on the house. In Manhattan Center, 5,000 strikers gathered to hear union officials pledge that the strike would continue until they won their demands or "hell freezes over."
