How long have you been out of the walls for, do you want a celebration for your sobriety?
im going to be honest with you papa, about 10 days. I went back in to mess with Adam and Jane, at the time it was hilarious, but a weak moment none the less. a celebration would not be necessary, especially after going back in too not long ago. I'm sorry papa :(
for context the experiments/children are not permitted in the lab as per a recent rule
I like to think each experiment is banned for different reasons, 578-0 is banned for doing chaotic things like a scenario as such, and getting too emotionally attached to experiments that are not going to be successful.
hey what is up guys, it's another dogshit piece of writing by ME!!!!!1!!!1!!!
CW: murder, vomit
okAy lets jump right into it!
Lily Petals in the Mud
By Neosporinwound
Adam went out of the house for once. He had to grab a few bouquets of flowers for Esmeralda: more specifically he had to acquire roses, zinnias, sunflowers, and lilies. He heard of a floral shop a little far off from where he lived so he grabbed 50 or so dollars that he had in his pocket and totally didn’t steal from Herbert, and drove off to the shop in Daniel’s car. He was actually taught how to drive by Dan a few weeks prior and Adam decided that he would most likely be fine if he drove. He popped a cassette into the cassette player, the vibrations and sounds of Penny Lane by The Beatles filling the inside of the car and filling Adam with glee as he drove. He had a few more cassettes in his small black purse that ranged from Yes to Bauhaus to Paul McCartney. It was especially sunny that day in Arkham so he wore his sunglasses to block the sun's blinding rays. Once he arrived in front of the store, he parked his vehicle and went inside, the smell of carnations and poppies filling his nostrils. There was a woman at the front desk rearranging the decorations. She had dark olive skin, brown eyes, thick brows, and brown hair. When Adam came in, her face fell as if she had seen a ghost and she almost dropped the vase she was holding. Adam was the only one in the shop at that moment, browsing through the selection of plants. Only him and the woman. He grabbed a few roses and sunflowers but couldn’t locate any lilies or zinnias. He turned to her.
“Hi,” Adam greeted. “Do you have any lilies? Or um…Zinnias?” he asked with wide eyes, tilting his head. The stranger continued to stare at him for a moment before processing his words and responding.
“The lilies would be next to the gardenias, and the zinnias would be to your left of the beehive gingers.” she said, her voice having a booming and honey like quality to it. She pointed across the room and wouldn’t you know it, the lilies are right there.
“Thank you, miss...” Adam trailed off, waiting for her response.
“Judith,” She answered. “Judith-Anne.”
Adam stopped moving for a moment. “That’s familiar,” He said. “A familiar, familiar name. Have we met before?” asked Adam.
Judith looked at Adam like she already knew the answer, but she didn’t tell. Her lip trembled as she made up a lie. “No.” she simply said. “I don’t think we have. But you have a familiar face.” she noted.
“Hm.” he hummed.
“Do you have a girlfriend?” Judith bluntly asked.
“No, no I don’t.” Adam answered.
“Who are these for then?”
“Oh these are for my friend! Her birthday is coming up soon so I thought I would be kind and get her a little something-something. I can see how you would think I had a girlfriend though.” He smiled, a chuckle escaping his lips. Judith looked at him like he owed her Money, Her eyes filled with something in-between hatred and longing. Adam didn’t notice. Adam went across the small store and grabbed the Zinnias and lilies.
“Will those be all you need today?” Judith asked, her voice a lot more quiet and raspy than before.
“Um…” Adam began. “Yes, these will be all.” He concluded.
Adam went to the front desk with Judith, her curls bouncing as she walked. Adam paid for his item. They came up to be 50 dollars exactly. Judith looked up at Adam with a longing look, her brows furrowed. She looked like a grieving widow. Maybe that’s what she was.
“I have a few plants to put out from the back,” She said flatly. “Could you possibly help me with bringing those out here?” she asked.
Adam didn’t hesitate. He loved to help others. He helped Herbert and Dan a lot when they were re-animating subjects, He did as little as helping old women across the street. He was truly a selfless man! “Yes! Of course I can!” he answered, a smile on his face. Judith nodded, and led Adam to the back of the store, a dark look on her face. The back was filled with plants like yellow roses, orchids, and peonies and had a multitude of gardening tools. Adam looked to Judith, and had a pang in his stomach. A pang like the stabbing of a knife to his heart. He stared at Judith and his expression darkened, his expression unreadable. He had to kill her. He didn’t know why, he just knew that he had to. It was a thought and idea that came from deep within. An inner voice whispered in his ear like the devil…or an angel. He knew in his soul that she did something to him. Something horrible. Adam grabbed the shovel on the wall and when Judith had her back turned and was picking up a pot. He gripped the handle of the shovel with his stitched hands and when Judith never turned, that’s when Adam swung. The silver spaded tip of the shovel hit the back of Judith’s head, causing her to scream with a wicked howl of pain. Adam kept banging repetitively on her skull until she bled, and stopped moving. Once Judith stopped moving, Adam had a blank expression as he stared down at her lifeless body. Her eyes were blank, her mouth hung open and the stench of death was already starting to fill the room. The blood was pooling around her. Adam went on autopilot and grabbed the cleaning spray that was on the desk near the door to the store and picked up a small cloth too. He put on the gardening gloves that were hung on the wall and cleaned off his fingerprints that were on the shovel. He left the shovel next to Judith, and put the gloves in his pocket. He went out the back door and didn’t look back.
He walked to his car around the back of the shop and when he arrived, he got inside. He placed his bouquet of flowers in the passenger seat and turned on the car. He started it up, and drove off without a second thought. The Sgt. Pepper's cassette started to play again and when it started to skip, that's when Adam’s actions caught up to him, his face contorted into one of horror and regret. He didn’t cry, but his mouth quivered as he remembered what he had done. He pulled into the driveway of Herbert and Dan’s house and put the car in park, and walked out with his bouquet. The sky was already dark, and probably meant it was around 6:00. Supper time. Adam walked inside and his ears were immediately filled with talking and laughter in the dining room. He dropped the flowers on the couch in the living room and sauntered to the dining room, and sat down in his chair. He was next to Herbert and Jane. Dan had made roasted chicken with bratwurst and baked ham, mashed potatoes, with green beans. There was cheesecake for dessert. There was already a plate down for Adam, so he had to fill it. He grabbed some chicken, bratwurst, and green beans. He would have more, he always had seconds when it came to dinner. He loved Dan’s meals. He was quiet. Too quiet. Herbert immediately took notice.
“Adam.” Hebert said with his flat tone. “What happened?”
“Oh I um… I went to the floral shop and got some flowers for Esmeralda’s birthday!”
“Anything else?” Herbert asked, stuffing his face with chicken.
Adam paused. “No.” He said quickly.
“You seem a little tense,” said Jane.
“No, no. I’m fine!” reassured Adam.
“Adam, if there’s something going on, you can tell us.” Dan said from across the table, eating mashed potatoes.
578-0 asked, Jane began to push with her questions, Evelyn was concerned, Gloria asked, everyone at that table wanted to know. Adam’s breath became heavier and heavier with the passing second. Too much was happening at once, his ears began to ring and his hands shook in nervousness. Everything was too much. He couldn’t take it. He had to leave.
Leave.
Leave the table.
Go.
GO!
The thoughts and images from earlier were plaguing his brain. He was getting physically sick from it all. He suddenly got up without a word and ran to the bathroom and locked the door from the inside so no one could get in. He turned the knobs on the sink and let it fill with water. He held himself onto the sink, his arms and legs shaking from stress. He dunks his head into the water and arises, hoping the cold water on his face will make him feel better. It doesn’t. Instead he vomits, the noise of his hurling filling the bathroom. He doesn’t get a breather when he pukes again, the muddy mix of green and red filling the sink. It doesn’t take him long until he starts to sob. He breaks down and his legs buckle, letting him fall onto the tiled floor. His tears surround him, and puddle him on the ground. He can’t calm down. He is completely inconsolable. Herbert is knocking on the door hard. Adam! Let me into this bathroom NOW!, He shouts.
“LEAVE ME ALONE HERBERT! JUST LEAVE!” Adam shouts with a stutter.
Herbert rolls his eyes and unlocks the door from the outside, and his eyes widen in shock from the sight he sees:
A very upset Adam
A sink full of puke
Tears on the floor
Herbert then closes the door, not wanting to deal with that mess right at that very moment, which only makes Adam sob more.
He doesn’t come out of that bathroom for a solid 20 minutes. When he finally gets a hold of himself, he weakly gets up on his knees, empties the sink, and immediately goes to bed. He wants to forget what he did. He wants to. He wants those images to leave his mind and never return. He can’t forget. He’ll never forget.
He went to bed without eating that night.
