2019 TONYS - JASON MICHAEL WEBB This. Man. Right. Here. is one of my biggest inspirations in my chosen field of musical theatre. I vibe with every move he has made in his stellar career. He is a musical director par excellence; an in-demand conductor, musician, accompanist, composer and, perhaps his greatest talent, an arranger with an innate ability to find and nurture small, quiet moments of Truth in the midst of big Gospel-tinged, soul-stirring theatrical showstoppers. Even his individual musical decisions as an arranger/composer are choices I understand and attempt to manifest in my own work (I strive. lol) . (This post is long, so check out his credits in the first comment below) . The moment I’ve captured in this portrait is the receipt of his special Tony for his original music and vocal arrangements for Best Play nominee “Choir Boy” (see previous post) for which he also won a Drama Desk this year. (You can currently catch his original songs and incidental music in the hit Shakespeare in the Park production of “Much Ado About Nothing” directed by Kenny Leon. . On top of ALL this, he is incredibly approachable and inviting. I’ve yet to officially meet him face-to-face or work with him in any aspect (…yet. ) but for years he has offered me invitations to his casual gatherings of Musical Theatre fam in NYC and LA and opened his world to me through social media, inspiring and educating on a daily basis. @JasonMichaelWebb @CynthiaErivo @TheTonyAwards @bwaycolorpurple @TuTchTig @BroadwayBlack #LoJoWerkz #LoJoWerkzDailyDope #DAILYDOPE #TonyAwards #JasonMichaelWebb #TuTchTBroadwayPortraits #ChoirBoy #TheColorPurple #CynthiaErivo #MuchAdoAboutNothing #KennyLeon #TheGreatestShowman #ShakespeareinthePark #ThisisMe #PasekandPaul #Obama #BrooklynTabernacle #MotownTheMusical #Frozen #DramaDeskAwards #Inspiration https://www.instagram.com/p/BylxNIBF9QP/?igshid=1wb7nkk4bxkmz
