Explaining who Jaster Mereel is to casual star wars fans is making me look like this
Looking back on the Mandalorian I thought the way the show would play out is that Boba Fett begins to mentor Din Djarin to carry on Jaster Mareels legacy as his father Jango carried it on. This would be a much better fit for Mandalore going forward than either Death Watch or Dutchess Satine's style of pacifism.
Also, I thought Din would have to fight Bo-Katan since she used to wield the Dark Saber, she tried and failed to unite the Mandalorians in the past. So, she would try to take it from Din so she could try again only to fail.
It's somewhat disappointing how that show played out but at least Din gets his own house on the prairie and lives in peace with Grogu.
Din's tribe/covert/etc. was started by a clone that took up Jaster's code and made the helmet always on rule, or others just followed their example of never taking it off to the max, so that they could hide from the empire and anyone who would cause problems if they knew they were a clone
Do any of the other old as heck Boba Fett fans remember back in the 90’s when Jaster Mareel WAS Boba Fett’s real name and like Boba Fett was his bounty hunter name and there was this whole elaborate fan created backstory about him being a law man on his home planet before shit went down and he became a bounty hunter and it was accepted as canon? Then the prequels happened and we were like wtf?!?!?! Did I imagine that?? I know I didn’t. AND LIKE I’ve long since accepted his canon backstory but OMG letting go of the one tiny kiddo me grew up with was hard.
I need a million fics where Jaster ends up finding little 3 year old Obi who was supposed to be delivered to the crèche and looks at his 9 year old son and goes 'hey, you want a brother??' And Jango is like 'FUCK YES' ('language!!') and so they keep the baby an Obi grows up with them and Jaster survives and one day Satine tries to get rid of them like in canon but then she meets Obi who's all shy and stuff and she's like 'I'm gonna tap that so hard I break it' and tries to get a political marriage instead but they say no but end up always sending Obi to deal with her instead and that's where Qui meets him one day while sent to a peace treaty and meets Obi and a weird random force bond happens between them and they're like 'fuck that' but Qui spends time with him when he can anyways and ends up asking him if he wants proper training to be a delegate and Obi says yes so Qui brings him with him to Naboo (with Jango coming with like a stalker cause wtf bro you can't just steal my baby bro wtf) and they all end up finding Ani on Naboo where Obi develops a spontaneous bond with ANI now and Qui is all 'I could raise him-' 'NO FUCK YOU IM KEEPING HIM AND HIS MOM FUCK OFF' and takes Ani and Shmi back to the True Mandalorians (where the 29 year old Shmi proceeds to fall in love with Satine and they get married and end the bad blood between clans forever) and Obi keeps Ani with him half the year and Shmi for the other half and it's good. Fuck I just made a new AU
Arasuum (sloth god) -> new mandalorians
Kad Ha’rangir (destruction god) -> death watch
balance -> true mandalorians
I don't know why but Sheriff Caleb Roussard from Will Trent for me is the ideal prototype of Jaster Mareel (predominantly his character and his atitude towards his son)
whoops
