When the chips are down
Back against the wall
Got no more to give
'Cause we gave it all
Seems like going the distance
Is unrealistic
But we're too far from the start
You've been friends with the boys since you were in diapers. You five were as thick as knives. You did everything together, so when the boys suggested a band you were dragged into it as well.
You were the manager, but you didn't deny helping the boys by any means necessary. If they needed another vocalist, you were there. Oh, no one of the guys got sick, you took over their parts. Luke couldn't think of any lyrics, you were right there helping him.
The boys called you an angel from above, but you were just happy to help.
So we take what comes
And we keep ongoing
Leaning on each other's shoulders
Then we turn around
And see we've come so far somehow
In the beginning, you guys didn't get many gigs. You played here and there at restaurants and clubs, but no one really knew who Sunset Curve was. It was slightly disappointing, to say the least. The biggest plan of Sunset Curve was to play at the Orpheum and at this rate that wasn't going to happen.
It was late at night and the boys were moping around at the studio after almost getting arrested plenty of times that week for trying to get a gig at the Orpheum.
Alex was laying on the couch, twirling his drumsticks, behind him sat Luke staring at the ceiling. On one of the chairs, Reggie was plucking at the stings of his bass. On the other chair, Bobby sat normally but he was glancing around the room and tapping his foot. Then there was you. You walked through the doors, ready to change their mood in an instant.
"I have some news boys." You tried not to give it away.
"What are we getting arrested?" Alex said, not even bothering to look your way. The only boy who adverted their gaze to you was Reggie.
"I mean I can go call the cops quick if you guys didn't want to play the Reyes Hall." And with that, you turned around to "call" the cops.
You heard stumbling and you were pretty sure someone fell.
A hand gently grabbed your wrist and twirled you around.
"Wait, what did you do?" Reggie said.
Luke and Bobby, we're behind him, Alex was on the floor.
"Well, I mean I was going to call the cops since you guys didn't want the gig I just booked you."
The Reyes Hall is almost as big as the Orpheum. Many stars who just start out get a gig there and then almost immediately after they are playing the Orpheum.
"Oh my god!" Luke said in that weird voice of his. He then pushed Reggie aside and pulled you into a hug.
"You're the best person in the world." Bobby then joined the hug.
"I don't think we'd survive without you," Alex commented, walking over and joining the hug.
"You're literally my favorite person ever." Reggie finally said, being the last to join the hug.
With that, Luke and Bobby pulled away slightly and gave him a look.
"No, he's got a point," Alex said.
You all laughed and continued with the group hug.
We're halfway there
We're looking good now
Nothing's gonna get in the way
We're halfway there
And looking back now
I never thought that I'd ever say
We're halfway there
We're halfway there
The night came and it was 5 minutes until the show. This was huge and the nerves were kicking in.
Alex was freaking out which made Reggie freak out, which made Bobby irritated, which made Luke annoyed, which made you worry about your boys.
You sat on the ground with Alex and talked him through.
"But what if they hate us then we'll never play the Orpheum. Or what if I mess up and ruin it for the boys?"
You put your arm around his shoulders.
"Alex, you're an amazing drummer. You guys are going to rock it."
He sighed and got up, reaching out a hand to help you up. He immediately pulled you into a hug.
"Thanks, y/n. You're the best."
You laughed quietly. "I know."
He then left to talk to Luke to help him.
You walked up to Bobby first and punched his arm lightly.
"Hey, what was that about?" Bobby said, face softening when he saw that it was you.
"Calm down. Everything's fine. You're fine and the bands fine. Now hurry up, you're on stage in like, two minutes."
Bobby smiled and threw you a wink as he walked away.
Now where was Reggie?
You went to their room, which was really just a large closet, but hey, no one was complaining. You find Reggie with his knees brought up to his chest, head in his arms, and back against the wall.
You stayed quiet until you sat next to him.
"Hey, you good?"
Reggie stayed quiet.
"You guys are going to completely rock tonight. The crowd is going to be so loud that your ears will ring, and you're going to get so many fans. You're going to have all these girls just lining up to get your number. Then you guys are going to get a gig at the Orpheum and your lives will change." You looked over at him. He was in the same position but he was now looking at you. "You will make it big. Sunset Curve will be the hottest band of the year, make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Then you guys will make a country album that will sell out."
Reggie let out an airy laugh.
"You're going to do great."
He inhaled. "Thanks y/n. I don't know what I'd do without you."
You got up and reached out your hand and pulled him into a hug just like what Alex did to you.
You pulled away and grabbed ahold of his arm, dragging him until your free hand found the door handle. "I think you would miss the gig without me."
And with a bright smile, you opened the door and ran with Reggie in tow.
The other guys heard your giggling right before you crashed into them. You were all on the floor.
All your eyes made contact with each other's and laughter burst out. That is until the stage manager came to get you all.
If we never flew
We would never fall
If the world was ours
We would have it all
But the life we live
Isn't so simplistic
You just don't get what you want
After the gig, you all went to the local pizza joint to celebrate the amazing job the boys did.
You were all laughing and shoving your faces with pizza.
"Hey, I bet I can eat the most slices," Bobby said standing up.
"Uh no- last time we did this I won, you won't win," Luke exclaimed, standing right in front of him.
"Oh my god, you guys are such idiots." You laughed, these boys are ridiculous.
"Okay okay, I'll be the judge." Alex stood between two chairs. He patted the backs of the boys. "Now sit."
"Ok, who knows the Heimlich if this goes south?" Reggie wasn't too worried, but a little fear crept through his voice.
"Nah man, we'll be fine." Luke brushed them off.
"Okay, on your mark, get set, eat!"
That night was filled with laughter and smiles. You knew the guys could do it, they were halfway there. Next stop, the Orpheum.
So we take what comes
And we keep ongoing
Leaning on each other's shoulders
Then we turn around
And see we've come so far somehow
The days after playing the Reyes Hall were filled with anticipation. You all waited by the phone for a call from the Orpheum. A week passed and hope dwindled.
You were all in the studio surround the phone that was placed on the coffee table.
You looked at the clock, it was two in the morning. It's officially been more than a week and no call from the Orpheum.
"I'm sorry guys. I really thought I put enough good words in for you guys at your concert." You looked down, tears filling your eyes. You felt so bad. You thought you gave the boys false hope.
"Hey, it isn't your fault," Reggie said sitting next to you and wrapping arms around your shoulders.
"Yeah y/n, you tried your best. Sometimes it just doesn't happen." Luke said l, following Reggie and sitting on the opposite side of you.
Bobby came and sat in front of you on the table. He patted your knee and gave you a reassuring smile.
"I mean it's not like it's totally unexpected," Alex said sitting next to Bobby.
Everyone gave him a look. "What? You can't always expect it to happen like you want to. Plus we still have more chances. I mean we're only 17."
You let out a laugh. "Thanks, guys. I truly am sorry though."
Reggie squeezed you tighter. "Hey like Alex said, we still have chances."
You nodded and rested your head on his shoulder. "Yeah, I guess your right. Can we go to sleep now?"
"Oh thank god. I thought I was going to pass out right here." Bobby exclaimed rushing over to a chair.
We're halfway there
We're looking good now
Nothing's gonna get in the way
We're halfway there
And looking back now
I never thought that I'd ever say
We're halfway there
We're halfway there
The next morning you got woken to the phone ringing. Your brain was still hazy as you rubbed your eyes.
"It's Sunday, why is there an alarm going off?" Reggie said, scooting closet to you.
Finally, your brain sparked to life. Your eyes widened and you quickly got off the floor much to Reggie's dismay.
You quickly answered the phone, hoping it wasn't too late.
"Hello, may I ask who is calling?"
"Uh, this is Lane Smith from the Orpheum management. Is this Sunset Curve's manger?"
You took the phone away from your ear and silently screamed.
"What? Who is it?" Luke asked, jumping over the table.
You held a finger up your lips. "Yes this is."
"Great. We saw the boys perform last week and was wondering if they want to play next Friday?"
"Oh my god! I mean- uh, yes we would love to play." In order to conceal your excitement, you jumped up and down.
Soon Reggie joined you. "Why are we jumping?"
"Great, we'll be in touch." And with that Lane Smith hung up.
A bright smile lit up your place as the phone was still pressed to your ear.
"Y/n!" The boys all yelled.
This brought you out of your shock. You gently placed the phone back.
"Oh, sorry guys, that was just my friend Lane from the Orpheum management. He offered you guys a gig NEXT WEEK!"
"Oh my god!" Alex said rubbing over to you and pulling you into a hug.
The rest of the boys followed and you all just stood in each other's embrace, with smiles so big your cheeks were hurting, but none of you cared.
How you ever gonna reach the stars
If you never get off the ground?
And you'll always be where you are
If you never let life knock you down
We're halfway there
We're looking good now
Nothing's gonna get in the way
It was the big night. Everything was going perfectly. The soundcheck went amazing and the workers all seemed to enjoy their music. Now the only thing that was less than perfect was the street dogs the boys convinced you to eat. But you haven't eaten much that entire day so you wouldn't complain.
You were very cautious about these hot dogs. Alex seemed to be in the same boat as you were.
“That’s a new flavor.” He said with his mouth full.
“Chill man, street dogs haven’t killed us yet,” Reggie exclaimed giving you a nod of approval.
You sighed and shook your head and took your first bite. Which wasn’t a good idea as the next thing you know is that you’re floating out of your body and now you’re in a black room.
“Oh come on. We were halfway there, we were this close to it.” Your arms flailed around you, and your thumb and pointer finger got close together showing almost no space between them.
The next thing you know your falling and screaming. Luke, Reggie, and Alex joined you in screaming. When you crashed to the ground you groaned.
You slowly got up and spun around, you were back in the studio, but it was decorated differently. You now noticed a girl standing in front of you.
“Oh, hi.” You gave a small wave. Then the girl started screaming. The boys joined in, causing you to scream. They brought you closer to them as they started freaking out.

A/N: please be kind, this was a big thing that I decided to try.
Wheat stalks danced around them as the gentle spring wind fluttered in through soft waves. The warm sun brought heat to their bodies as they laid entangled on a soft knit blanket in the middle of the field. Her head laid on his chest while the fingers of his right hand lazily trailed up and down her arm. Every now and then, the wind would blow her long locks of hair his way and for a fleeting moment, his nostrils would be overwhelmed by the sweet scent of lavender and vanilla.
JATP x BTR Crossover Week
The official JATP x BTR crossover week will be December 2-8.
We chose to make the week Wednesday-Tuesday to give a lot of time to create while people also might be working on Secret Santas, to utilize the break around Thanksgiving, and to avoid running into Hanukkah. We also thought having a weekend in the middle of the “week” might be helpful for some people.
While there is an official week for the event, it’s certainly not a deadline! We’ll absolutely continue reblogging and adding to collections after the week is over.
Important Information:
Any and every form of content is welcome! Fanfiction, fanart, gifs, edits, etc. – we would love to see anything you can come up with that fits the content requirement!
Use the tag #jatpxbtr and/or tag us here ( @jatp-btr ) so that we can reblog and add your work to the collections! To be super safe, please feel totally free to tag one or both of us at @meangirlsx and @darlingsteveharrington.
One of us will comment on your post from our personal blogs so you know we’ve seen it. You’re welcome to send an ask to this blog if you think we haven’t seen your post.
On that note, special shoutout and huge thank you to @jatp-week @pawprinterfanfic @agentsofoakenshiield for running such an incredible, successful week that we were able to learn from for this event, and for being so helpful with tips and guidance.
Below are the prompts for each day:
Day One (December 2) and Day Two (December 3): anything including or inspired by any song on the first album, BTR
Day Three (December 4) and Day Four (December 5): anything including or inspired by any song on the second album, Elevate
Day Five (December 6) and Day Six (December 7): anything including or inspired by any song on the third album, 24/Seven
Day Seven (December 8): Free Day! Pick any Big Time Rush song of your choice
There’s absolutely no expectation or requirement to participate in all of the albums, but you’re welcome to participate as much as you want.
We also want to be pretty open with rules and requirements, but we do have a few.
Rules and Requirements:
1) Content should be centered around JATP characters, themes, etc. and be based on or include one of Big Time Rush’s songs.
2) We want to stay away from NSFW/explicit content to keep it a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
3) If your content involves romantic relationships, please keep it to character x character and character x reader rather than actor x actor and actor x reader.
We’ve also started an FAQ with predicted questions, but if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask us.
We look forward to celebrating this crossover with you!
