Struck with the absolutely horrible realization that Figarland was probably the one that proposed/green light the creation of Ryu because he's horribly obsessed with the Shandians/Skypieans that dare to live above him and ‘Heaven’. Not to say he wouldn’t be not normal about the Lunarians but since they chose to live on the Red Line he probably sees it as them abandoning their rights to the sky (like how Donquixote Homing rejected his Celestial Dragon status and chose to leave Mariejoa.)

Ryu doesn’t have a ton of memories regarding the man but all the ones he did were..odd. He never even brings him up until one random day having breakfast with the family where he offhandedly mentions that he had a dream about that man again. Immediately Urpi responds that she would be more than happy to protect him from this bad nightmare man. Ryu panics a little while telling her that she shouldn’t go picking fights with a celestial dragon, let alone a holy knight, just for him! He’d be fine, it was just some weird memories got mixed around in his head last night, that’s all!

Immediately the air stills, Dragon looks horrified and apologizes for Ryu having to carry his memories of that..man with him. Ryu corrects his Tayta and tells him the memories he’s speaking of are his alone. Cue the air suddenly crackling and everyone’s hair standing on end as Dragon quickly transitions into being pissed beyond measure.

It was one of the small handful of times that Saturn had ventured to Egghead in person to check on the Seraphim project. Garling had been accompanying him so that he could check up on the Figarland family's future 'gladitorial angel'.

Ryu didn't feel much fear at the time on account of the emotional suppressors still being active. But looking back, he's trembling head to toe when he remembers being looked over by that man bearing the mockery of the crescent moon in his hair. How much Ryu's skin crawled when his wings were stared at. Garling didn't even hesitate to yank out a feather to keep 'for comparison'.

"Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed." Garling had said "Since the original had a pair of wings, I would have thought this one would have four."

"Additional modifications can always be made" came the unpleasant rumble of Saturn's voice

"See to it that it is. Half black, half white. Perfect symmetry. Does it speak?"

"Yes, but future models will be produced without vocal cords. A weapon is meant for killing, not conversation."

"Make sure this one's are still intact. Much easier for it to tout the accomplishments of the Figarland family with speech capabilities."

It's at that moment Garling took hold of Ryu's chin with those bony fingers and tilted it upwards.

"Yours is a pitiable existence, child. To be blessed with unparalleled natural strength, durability, the power of flight. Such gifts wasted on beings without a drop of the divine blood in their veins. At least your artificial soul will be somewhat salvaged through service to one of the rulers of this world. Be grateful for that."

It was at that moment that Garling left, though not without looking towards an incubation tube that housed a younger Seraphim with notable disdain.

"And that one?"

"Growth is progressing at a steady rate. Gestation for an additional two months should accelerate its biological age to the state of the current Seraphim models."

"Can you do nothing about that disgusting protrusion on its face?"

"I brought up laceration with Shamrock, but he was rather insistant that this feature must remain intact."

"Very well then. Although why my son wants such a hideous Seraphim in his retinue, I will never know."

Thinking back on it all makes Ryu's stomach churn and the lightning clouds churn in accordance with Dragon's wrath.

But that's not the worst part.

The Figarland family having Seraphim gifted to them? That's not a unique position.

Several Lunarians were imprisoned and experimented on at Punk Hazard alongside King. The world nobles received word of it and demanded that the ones who didn't drop like files be sent to Mariejois. Who could possibly resist having fallen angels once considered gods as prize pets or gladiators? There's no way of knowing if they're still there.

chapter 1107 spoilers

Howabout that cover? Howaboutthat cover? How ABOUT that cover?

Bepo, with a lovely warming pot of tea (or a kettle at least), and a club? (to protect the captain?), finds him skiving off with a snow leopard, a funnel, and maybe an empty bottle of Vodka. Chapter title is: "I've been looking for you", and it refers to the giants, I think, looking for the Straw Hats, and Usopp (especially), looking (out) for the giants, and Catarina Devon doing what, exactly? But Caribou, snivelling little sop of a man that he is, looking out for Blackbeard (his current lord and saviour). But, I'm with Bepo, looking out for Law!

The Blackbeards' land on Egghead and St. Jay Garcia Saturn says he knows all about Blackbeard's background, and Catarina knows it too, and I think it's maybe something separate from the "D" initial, cos', after all, it is in Teach's public name. But we see Van Augur--(like, why is the anime captioning him as Van Ogre when Augur is written clearly on the screen? But anyway). The last time we saw him

was

here in chapter 1081 when Bepo went Sulong and escaped with Law. Most of us thought that Blackbeard's crew had been split in half because

it was assumed that events were happening concurrently, but

Van Augur and Catarina Devon are here (on Egghead), and perhaps Van Augur could have warped himself there, but here he says

he hasn't mastered the warp warp fruit enough to get him and Catarina off the island, so it's unlikely that he could have warped himself all the way from Winner Island. SO, did they pursue Law and Bepo, and the two are nearby, or with the giants, or, or, or? Or is there some other explanation (about Van Augur--I know that Law's whereabouts is still relegated to cover pages)? I'm not a close reader, so I'm happy to have anything pointed out.

But, looks like Catarina will be able to clone

Saturn, and looks as if Saturn knows it. Of course, this guy below (Caribou) would be relevant. Can't wait to see his role!

I'm out of order, of course! I don't think that Law got recaptured, but I still think there might be a giant connection. And speaking of the giants

heartfelt, was, ahhh, my heart, and Nami and Chopper were really cute too. And yeah, it's been some time, so the quick recap was necessary. AND, lots of small things I just loved either for humour or poignancy, like:

Brook abandoning everything for the sake of a cup of tea (even though he says he wasn't stopping for a cup of tea)---and Lilith sending forth messages (to raise the barrier, I'm guessing) because Brook is all too calm that the Sunny is heading towards the barrier, and bound to be fried by it. Lilith is not at all equipped for dealing with Straw Hat madness. And no-one can seriously out-machismo

Zoro. He's just too silly and strong. And!!!

the Pacifistas turn on the army, the army needing to suppress a workers' revolt. And that's Kuma in the bottom picture, isn't it? It looks like Kuzan, but PX is written on the cap, I think, in the picture. Again, let me know, please!

Bonney just

being in awe that

she gets to see Nika (and Nika teaches her how to throw a rubber punch, extra future bad news for Saturn, I hope). And

Kuma and Vegapunk (what's the far right image?) take in Nika too. Love Franky's way with words here:

telling Bonney she needs make use of her legs, and Vegapunk decides he's gonna stay (or die), and Borsalino's gonna make sure of it. But!

the power of love is all pervasive! (at least when Sanji's wearing the boots). Although his love was used for protecting Bonney rather than Vegapunk, and probably has more to do with Germa modifications than love, but it is Sanji's motivator, and attacks Kizaru's knowledge of "how things work"!

Kizaru/Borsalino's face in the first panel really shows how much power he's losing. Sentomaru took a path Kizaru could have taken, but didn't. He's following Bellamy's path, so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up. Because he's too smart to be a blind lackey. Being an aware lackey is some powerful conditioning/mental gymnastics.

And I think that's about it. Hoping Kid gets a cover page soon too!
