Summary: Jay’s never met Serveirses sister, maybe its because she travels for work so often. But maybe they hadn’t met yet for a reason. Maybe it hadn’t been the right time till now.
Authors Note: You never see a woman wrestler as a job for the reader and I’m a big fan of AEW so I put some of that in this story.
“Hey Herrmann.” Jay greeted as he approached the firefighter. It was rare when the FD and the PD could get together but this giant cook out for both departments was a great way to get together.
“What's up Halstead?” Herrmann answered with a smile.
Jay was looking around and he had noticed a woman he’s never seen before with Kelly. Who better to ask than Herrmann. “Who’s that over there with Severide?”
“Y/n?” Herrmann furrowed his brows, why’d he want to know that? Then again Jay was a friendly guy and probably hadn’t met her yet. “Severide's sister Y/n. Well half sister but their mom’s let the two grow up seeing each other all the time. Essentially they grew up together. They're close.”
“Thank’s.” Jay nodd’s in gratitude as Herrmann got dragged away by one of his kids.
“Dude this could be a bad idea.” Kevin shook his head already sure of what Jay was thinking. Kevin and Adam had been nearby and heard Jay talking to Herrmann, so once the firefighter left they approached their buddy.
“Could be?” Adam raised a brow in question.
“It’s Severide's sister.” Kevin clarifies as if it should be obvious.
“She could be worth it.” Adam shrugged his shoulders, taking a sip of his beer.
“Who could be worth it?” Hailey questioned as her and Kim walked up to the guys.
“Severide's sister.” Kevin tell’s the women, catching them up.
“You should at least try.” Kim shrugged her shoulders.
“Thank you ladies.” Jay smiled at them before heading over towards Kelly and his apparent sister.
“Hey Jay.” Kelly nodded in greeting.
“Severide. Who’s this?” he asked, smiling.
“Y/n Jay Halstead, Jay Halstead Y/n Severide Y/l/n. My sister.” Kelly introduced his sister to the detective.
“Nice to meet you.” Y/n smiled, shaking his hand.
“Nice to meet you to. Didn’t know Kelly had a sister.” Jay smiled, shaking her hand.
“I travel a lot for work.” Y/n nodded as she gave her explanation.
“I’m gonna go grab a burger.” Kelly stated leaking the two to get acquainted.
“What do you do for work?” Jay asked, trying to get to know her better.
“Professional Wrestler.” Y/n answered with a smirk.
“Like WWE?” he raised a brow in shock.
Y/n shook her head and scoffed. “No, that's not professional wrestling, that's sports entertainment. The outcome, move’s pulled in the ring and words they say. All scripted… No, I'm with AEW. Real professional wrestling.”
“I’ll have to watch sometime.” Jay smiled at how passionately she talked about her job.
“Maybe you can come and see it in person sometime.” Y/n offered shyly.
“It’s a date.” Jay stated obviously hinting at the fact he was interested in her.
“Well the date would have to be after or before.” Y/n glanced at him.
“Fine by me.” Jay smirked.
Y/n nodded and then looked him up and down and smirked herself. “And let me guess ex-military and now law enforcement.”
“Damn spot on guess.” Jay answered, looking at her impressed and shocked.
“Well it’s not hard to tell your ex-military but it’s easy to see you're not a firefighter. And this is for firefighters and law enforcement plus their families.” Y/n laughed at his facial expression.
“Detective.” Jay told her to stepping closer to her.
“You work under Voight.” Y/n came to the conclusion.
“The one and only. You have a beef with him to?” Jay asked, really hoping she didn’t.
“Not personally. Only backing up Casey. But that’s been settled.” Y/n tells him with a shake of her head in a ‘no’ motion.
Meanwhile some of 51 and Voights team were watching from afar.
“Are you letting Halstead chat up your sister?” Herrmann raised a brow as he questioned the squad leader, confused and slightly concerned. Concerned for Halstead.
“No harm in them just talking.” Kelly shrugged.
“It’s more than that.” Adam laughed
“I noticed. But as long as he doesn’t hurt her I don’t have a problem with it.” Kelly told them taking a sip of his beer.
“You have a problem with anyone else aksing her out on a date.” Cruz looked at him with squinted eye’s judgingly.
“Not me.” Casey smirked, tilting his head, looking all innocent.
“Yeah well you're the exception.” Kelly shrugged and nudged Casey’s shoulder.
“What about Halstead?” Mouch asked.
“We’ll see.” Kelly watched Y/n and Jay closely. He’d be the first one to step in if he didn’t like anything Jay did. Y/n’s his sister, you don’t mess with his sister.

JAY HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
You spotted him the moment you entered Molly’s and quickly turned, ducking behind a crowd of guys that were just leaving the bar. When you reached the bar, Stella looked as if she had been waiting for you all along.
“Hey.” You greeted, frowning a little when you noticed the way she was looking at you. “What?”
Stella pushed a drink towards you. “You hiding from someone?”
You hadn’t really planned on telling Stella but you really needed a girlfriend now.
“Jay asked me out.” You said, adjusting yourself on the high stool to make yourself more comfortable.
Stella was leaning against the bar now, leaning in towards you. “And?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know.”
Stella looked up as Jay walked past, his eyes very obviously lingering on you as if he was deciding whether to approach, before he tore his eyes away and slipped out of Molly’s. Stella smiled, turning her attention back to you.
“What is it?” She probed.
You sighed. “I don’t know, don’t you think I’m a bit… young for him?” You gnawed lightly on your lower lip, a habit you’d had since forever when you had a lot on your mind.
Before Stella could respond, you heard Kelly’s voice near the door and the both of you turned.
“Please don’t tell Kelly about this.” You pleaded.
Stella smiled. “This conversation is not over.”
“Stella…” You whined.
“Girl’s honour.” Stella whispered, crossing her heart with two fingers just as Kelly reached the bar. He reached out to ruffle your hair, an annoying habit he had never gotten rid of, before he leaned across the bar to kiss Stella.
“Kelly, how many times do I have to tell you to quit doing that?” You growled, straightening your hair again.
Kelly chuckled. “As many times as I have to tell you that I don’t care how old you are, you will always be my baby sister.”
Kelly looked from Stella to you. “Something I should know?”
Stella smiled and shook her head. “Not if you know what’s good for you.”
Thankfully, Kelly hadn’t probed further and true to her word Stella hadn’t said anything to Kelly, instead coming by your place the next night armed with girls’ night snacks.
The both of you now sat on the couch as Stella studied you. “You like him, don’t you?”
You shrugged.
“What are you worried about?” Stella pushed a little and you looked up.
“I’m just not sure he really likes me.” You paused. “I know we don’t have like a huge controversial age gap or anything, it’s just… I’m just not sure if he really likes me or he just likes the idea of you know… dating someone… younger?”
Stella smiled. “Do you think he’s a good guy?”
You looked up. “Yeah, I think he’s the best.”
Stella didn’t answer, just continued smiling at you. “Now, I can’t tell you what to do, not really. You have to be ready to take the step forward but will you regret letting him go without trying?”
You bit your lip, the words rolling around in your head.
“You were supposed to make things easier.” You half complained.
Stella chuckled. “If you wanted easier, you would have gone to Kelly.”
You laughed. “That’s true.”
“Y/N, you like him, just go. It’s a first date, go have fun and don’t overthink it.” Stella said, looking back at you, smiling.
Not overthinking was easier said than done.
On your fourth day of ‘not overthinking’, you’d run into Jay at Molly’s.
“Hey.” Jay greeted, his green eyes twinkling like they normally did. You smiled back at him, trying to ignore the sound of your heart trying to leap out of your chest.
Jay hesitated in front of you, almost as if he wanted to ask you something but was afraid to broach the subject first.
You looked up at him. “Okay.”
Jay’s eyes jumped up to yours. “Okay?”
You let a smile creep along your face. “Okay.”
Jay’s face lit up and you felt your gut do a somersault. “To one date.” You stressed.
Jay put his hands up. “All I’m asking for, Y/N. All I’m asking for. Friday?”
You smiled and nodded. “Friday.”
“I’ll come by and pick you up at 7.” Jay said, and you swore you could hear a little triumph in his voice.
You watched as he practically skipped back to his table, casting you another backward glance. Stella winked at you from the bar. You headed over to her and leaned over. “Thank you.” You whispered.
“For what?” Kelly asked, eyeing you suspiciously.
You punched Kelly in the arm, not answering his question. “You better hold on to her, you hear me?”
Kelly raised an eyebrow.
“I’ll kick your ass otherwise.” You threatened.
Stella was right – it would be great if things went well but even if it didn’t, at least you wouldn’t have any regrets.

“You know my brother’s gonna flip, right?” Wil said as he entered the hospital room seeing Y/n there wasn’t to much of an unusual sight. But she was there a lot less often then his own brother. He knew Jay would flip out once he heard she was here for any reason. So would her brother.
“Yeah, so is mine.” Y/n let out an unamused laugh.
“Your gonna have 2 men to deal with. Sucks to be you.” Will smirked teasing her.
“Jackass.” she responded and they both broke out into laughter. It was nice to be good friends with her boyfriend's brother. The two ended up getting to joke around a bit longer before the door to the room opened. Upon seeing who had opened the door, Will took that as his queue to leave.
“What were you thinking?!” Jay yelled as he entered the room, Kelly following not far behind.
“I’m guessing you told him what happened?” Y/n asked tilting her head to the side looking at her brother.
Kelly shrugged his shoulders. “He was gonna find out sooner or later.”
“Why would you risk your life like that?” Jay scolded her crossing his arms over his chest.
“Hey-” Kelly raised his voice cutting Jay off before he could scold his sister anymore for doing her job. “As much as I hate it to Halstead. She saved a young girl’s life, and your one to talk about life risking stuff.”
It was silent for a few minutes but Jay did stop. He couldn’t argue he got hurt way more than Y/n did. She did save a life.
“Hey Kelly, can you give us a minute?” Y/n aksed licking her dry lips.
“Yeah, Y/n/n.” Kelly nodded, he understood there was a conversation that needed to be had between the couple. “I’ll go get you a drink, okay?”
“Hmmmhmmm, thanks.” Y/n smiled gratefully to her brother.
“y/n-” Jay went to start after Kelly left the room but Y/n cut him off.
“No, Jay. I watch you get shot and beat up all the time. More than I and I’m sure Will would like. This.” Y/n gestured with her hands across her body. “This is nothing. Hell, I even get to be discharged tonight and back to work next shift.”
Jay listened till she was done. He knew he overreacted but it scared him that he could have lost her in the blink of an eye. “I know, I know. I just don’t like seeing you hurt.”
“I don’t like seeing you hurt but that’s practically a weekly thing.” Y/n stated, she understood Jay’s feelings completely. But it doesn’t change the facts. They have dangerous jobs getting hurt happens. Y/n let out a sigh looking down at her hands in her lap as Jay moved to sit in the chair next to her hospital bed. “I saved a young girl's life. I don’t regret it. I know you love what you do and I support it but…”
“I can’t be a Hippocratic?” Jay finished smiling at her.
“No offense.” Y/n dropped her head to the side smiling back at him.
“None taken.” he shook his head, dismissing the form of apologies. “I’m sorry I got mad at you. I just worry about you.”
Y/n reached out, grabbing his hand and intertwining their fingers together. “An I appreciate it. But we both have dangerous jobs. I promise if it was something serious-”
Jay nodded in understanding. “I know. Me too.”
“Is it safe?”Kelly asked as he popped his head through the door after opening it. He could tell by the lifted mood in the room that they had worked out their little issue.
“Yeah, it’s safe. You know Kel I find it off-ly convent that you decide to happily fill in Jay when I happen to be hurt.” Y/n smirked at her older brother.
“More people to watch over you the better.” Kelly shrugged his shoulder smiling guiltily. Jay couldn’t agree with the lieutenant more.
