The rider, a handsome blond, was the one who had cleared his throat. Unfortunately, he did not look the least bit amused as he glared down at Jungwon.
Jungwon gulped and stared at the man who was dressed better than anyone Jungwon had ever met. Along with the annoyed young man were three other men. Two of them were also on white horses, while the third was on a black horse. Jungwon knew the one on the black horse had to be a slayer. He was dressed all in black and not in fancy clothes like the other three, plus he had a sword.
“An apology would be appropriate,” the annoyed young man stated in a clipped tone. “Or do the common folk here not have any manners?”
“Comm…” Jungwon paused, remembering he and Jake were wearing raggedy overalls, and he was covered in dirt. He wasn’t sure who the men were, but he knew they were nobles. So he decided to play along with their assumptions. “My Lord, I am deeply sorry. We common folk usually have better manners, but we didn’t see you.”
“It must be difficult to spot four horses,” the annoyed man spat as his eyes drilled into Jungwon.
Mr. Trip, the head tenant, gave Jungwon a puzzled look before he apologized sincerely, “Young Lord, I cannot apologize enough, is there anything we can do to make up for this mishap?”
The annoyed young man deflated and let out a loud sigh. He couldn’t very well be rude to Mr. Trip, who did appear to have manners. “I only request the quickest route to Lee Manor.”
“But why?” Jungwon queried. “Who are you, and why do you wish to visit the manor?”
The young man instantly became annoyed again. “I am Jay Park, and you may refer to me as My Lord. I do not see why my business would be of any concern to you.”
