The Lonely Maple Wood: My Origin Story
In the forest of north Florida, there stood a tiny, lonely maple tree. With bright green leaves and not quite enough sunshine, this little tree fought its way upward toward the life giving light. John Chilton, Jazz Writer, R.I.P.
John Chilton was a superb British jazz journalist and biographer. His “Who’s Who In Jazz” became an indispensible reference. John was a generous soul who helped us considerably when we were first trying to establish Mosaic Records. This obit in The Telegraph focuses on his lesser known careers as a trumpeter and as a songwriter. John will be missed.
