ackler/jcinkanon mods - thanks for coming back for a while. sorry it wasn’t worth it. hope you’re all okay.

I figured I'd message you instead of sending more anons on tattler. I am a non english speaker and I use AI to help with grammar and sentence structure. I tried other apps but they do not help the same amount as chatgpt does, they are often confusing and make the sentences more wrong. I've gotten so much issues with people when I didn't use this in the RPC where they bullied me for my writing. This has also been happening to many of us since internet RP has been a thing. Would you prefer people like me go back to being bullied for our lack of skills instead of using this? I do not send my anon with malicious meaning, I just want to explain to you why some of us revert to this. I can even put a full post in my native language into chat gpt and ask it to rewrite in english for me. I still wrote the post, I just got some help with the english part. It hurts no one. Why would you be against this?
it's that there are always actual humans who are willing to help out. unfortunately, there are a lot of awful people in the jcink RPC which is why it's so important to find the actual good people once you know who the shitty people are. there are do many of us who can handle imperfectly written posts as long as fun's being had. maybe I'm lucky in that the people i write with tend to ask for clarification if needed with how things can get lost in translation sometimes, even among fellow native English speakers.
anyway, my issue with text related AI is that o personally consider it to be anti-art. no matter how flowery it can get, there's always something extremely clinical and sterile about it that feels uncanny. there's also HOW the AI learns to write the way it does - it basically splices tons of other people's writing to produce a result that often sounds clunky and repetitive if not kept to a short amount of paragraphs for whatever prompt is fed to it.
it's also a double edged sword as because of how AI can read, it's alienated autistic people whose writing voices come off as more "robotic", so it's basically shitty whether it's actually used or not.
i hope you can find new RP partners who respect you as a writer and don't judge you for being ESL. you're too good for them, and it's unfortunate how you have to resort to ChatGPT to feel accepted in the jcink RPC.
please, please, please bring the dreamwidth back i'm BEGGING
We won't post the rest of our inbox, as some have asked us to stop clogging the tags, but the votes have been almost entirely unanimous in support of coming back.
Feel free to argue your case in the post below.
i hope you all come back. there were some really productive conversations near the end of the blogs lifetime and i'd like to be able to have that back. tattler is miserable to keep up with....
if anything, at least the discussions would be linear again.
is it possible to make the threads less annoying than they were on jcinkanon
Like our rules say, we won't let people be queerphobic, racist, or anything similar. We can do our best to block obvious trolls. But other than that, everyone's definition of annoying is different, sorry anon.
honestly with all of the qupping on jcinkanon about reading comprehension, someone should make an account to supplement the intense discourse topics with discussion questions bc whew the way people cling to emotions instead of letting the words sink in...
on the queer rep discourse for jcinkanon, a good tweet by the talented gretchen felker-martin:
