Alright - I have to know - which voice did you all pick for your Rook(s)? I know the answer for some of you - either from posted videos or from folks mentioning the voice actor etc, but for many of you? It remains a mystery! So when reading about your Rooks' misadventures or admiring their pretty faces, what voice should I be imagining???

(and I almost made this a poll but realized that we 'one Rook and only one Rook' people are probably in the minority 😂)

My favourite Dragon Age MC voiced lines

Warden (Natia Brosca), Julianne Buescher, violent female dwarf. Warden best line isn't even voiced "Sure, and may the dirt taste good when I feed it to you". But from what we have: "Just call me 'the Reaper'![maniacal laughter]."

No offence to Erika Ishii, but can we talk about how goofy the Echo sounds when you're using the female American voice? My first rook was the bryony corrigan voice, and the Echo literally gave me goosebumps. I was fucking terrified of fighting it when I found the open well in the crossroads. And then I got to hossberg as maraas and it was so weirdly upbeat? Genuinely insane experience.

With minimal to none at all commentary or analysis I rank the Veilguard Rook voice actors’ owl hooting.

(I lied; commentary unrelated to the hoots snuck in last minute)

1st place goes to “Feminine 2” - congrats Erika Ishii, 👍 (excited to hear more of you in ghost of tsushima 2 btw)

2nd and 3rd were close calls based on the very first hoot but the more I heard it became very clear: masc 2 - Jeff Berg (which is my personal favorite voice for my Rooks in general btw)

3rd place to fem 1, some were good some were just very plainly “whoo-whoo” - Bryony Corrigan (I absolutely love this accent btw very nice to listen to)

And in last place we got masc 1. Very unimpressed with your hoots, dude - Alex Jordan (Loved yah for my Tevinter mage tho)

Working on Rook number 4 rn and each one has been a different voice, and I found myself comparing their owl hoots at the statues for that side venture in Arlathan. Decided to share this very important information.

I also vaguely remember watching an episode of Game Changers maybe? Where they were making bird sounds… idk i remember hearing Erika making owl sounds before so hearing it in datv I was like “wait… why is this specifically so familiar?!”

Before I throw another rock at the Veilguard's writing, I want to give credit to Rook's VAs: Bryony Corrigan, Erika Ishii, Alex Jordan, and Jeff Berg

They are doing the most out of their lines and they clearly care about making the character feel alive and responsive to the world around them. I truly appreciate it.

This is Alec's canon response and also one of my favorite Solas moments in the game. I LOVE the reactions you get from him when you come at him with the more upfront, furious options in act 3. Rook completely has the read on him here and Solas has lost the leverage he's been using to manipulate them. WHAT A MOMENT WHAT A SITUATION.
