'We shouldn’t have been forced to be rude to Duffy in the last chapter of VOS if we let him live. In the previous chapters we acknowledged that he was a traumatized individual who lashed out due to all the horrible things that were done to him and we shouldn’t have been made to forget about that. Of course he should have served time in prison but he should have also had the opportunity to go to therapy and be rehabilitated instead of being left to rot in prison for life. I sympathize with Noah and Josephine for the same reason, they all deserved better.'

I don’t understand why we were made to feel sorry for Margaret when Duffy killed her. She burned a woman who had just had a child to death over an affair and was going to kill MC and Flynn for exposing her family’s crimes. Duffy was completely justified in killing her and Nikolai; it was no different from Estela killing Lila. None of Duffy’s other killings were justified but after what he went through, it’s understandable why he did what he did. PB shouldn’t have forced us to be rude to him and even tell him that nothing would make up for what he did. I don’t believe that all villains can be redeemed but I do think that Duffy deserves to go to therapy and be rehabilitated. Trauma can make survivors do terrible things (hello, Snape) and most of these survivors are worthy of proper help rather than punishment alone.
