George Clinton: The Rhythm of Vision One of the best things I like to do is just randomly go for a long walk to kill time even though people in LA hate walking (y’all call yourself wellness freaks but you ain’t!) and stumbling into art shows. Well this was a holy grail. I stumbled into one of my favorite galleries, Jeffrey Deitch, for the opening of George Clinton’s first art exhibition in Los Angeles. Stage by Lauren Halsey Ran into Eric Andre but that’s a picture I’ll share later but I got to tell George that Naeem says what’s up because they both performed together in Philly awhile back #georgeclinton #jeffreydeitch #wearmanyhats (at Jeffrey Deitch) https://www.instagram.com/p/Clq40jUO9b6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

ARIANA PAPADEMETROPOULOS ‘The Emerald Tablet’ @jeffreydeitchgallery Los Angeles Through October 23th The Emerald Tablet, a solo exhibition and curatorial project by artist and native Los Angeleno Ariana Papademetropoulos, opens at Jeffrey Deitch Los Angeles on September 4. Drawing inspiration from Los Angeles’s unique aesthetic, the exhibition celebrates the intersection of the occult and the magic of set design, blurring the world of cinema and the great beyond. Papademetropoulos is in dialogue with a rich history of artists enraptured by alchemy at the heart of Hollywood—a portal to another world. The exhibition is modeled on Dorothy’s quest to The Emerald City in Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz” and invokes its iconography to ignite the dialogue between esotericism and popular culture. As a fervent Theosophist, a religious movement that flourished in Los Angeles at the turn of the century, Baum’s Emerald City is a reference to “The Emerald Tablet of Hermes,” an ancient text that formed the foundations of alchemy and all subsequent western occult traditions. Throughout the exhibition are works by artists that speak to the art of transmutation, including: Isabelle Albuquerque, Theodora Allen, Jean-Marie Appriou, Beck, Lucy Bull, Marjorie Cameron, Leonora Carrington, Sedrick Chisom, Henry Darger, Hugh Hayden, Mike Kelley, Friedrich Kunath, Justin Lowe and Jonah Freeman, Jill Mulleady, Raúl de Nieves, Precious Okoyomon, Luigi Ontani, Ariana Papademetropoulos, Agnes Pelton, Jim Shaw, Henry Taylor, Gus Van Sant, Alix Vernet, Marnie Weber, Ambera Wellmann, Jordan Wolfson, and Unarius. #arianapapademetropoulos #jeffreydeitch #losangeles #painting #oz #theemeraldtablet (en Jeffrey Deitch) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVGiqJolmuU/?utm_medium=tumblr

⚡️#GavlakGallery is thrilled to announce it’s participation in @galleryplatform.la, coming May 15th!💖✨ Sixty Los Angeles art galleries have joined together to create an online platform to promote engagement with the local and international art audience. galleryplatform.la will present twelve gallery “viewing rooms” each week, with each gallery appearing on the platform once every six weeks. The platform will also include an editorial section featuring video visits with Los Angeles artists, collectors and gallerists. The online gallery platform is the first project of what will become a Los Angeles Gallery Association, which will coordinate joint programming, gallery maps and itineraries, and other projects to enhance the art viewing experience in Los Angeles. “At a moment in time when community, cooperation, and collaboration are more important than ever, we’re very excited to join forces with an impressive collective of Los Angeles galleries. It’s important to note that this is the first time that the LA art community has gathered together to create an association like this, a coalition spawned from a shared tribulation. We’re looking forward to seeing the platform grow and blossom.” —Tim Blum, Blum & Poe #galleryplatform.la #jeffreydeitch #galleryplatformla #galleryassociationla #gala #gpla #laartscene #artgallerylosangeles #artplatform #artgalleries #artadvisory #artcollectors #artnow #artcollecting #artconsulting #contemporaryartgallery #emergingart #contemporary_art #artcollections #artsgram #laartists #dtla #artonline (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_a4O64F7rH/?igshid=9tjg6dqa4p04
