Food Friday - Apr 3rd, 2020 Fools Gold Pizza Prep Time: 1 Hour
Inspired by One of My Favorite Romantic Comedies, What If (2013 - a Must Watch starring Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, Rafe Spall, and Adam Driver), I bring you an Ooey-Gooey Masterpiece...FOOLS GOLD PIZZA
To my knowledge a Fools Gold Pizza has not existed until now, but the concoction usually takes form as a Massive Sandy which was rumored to be a near and dear favorite of Elvis Presley (a topic touched on in What If).
So, what is a Fools Gold (Sandy)? Start off with an Entire French Bread Loaf and fill with an Entire Jar of Peanut Butter, an Entire Jar Jelly, and a Pound of Bacon. Apparently, The King would eat two of these bad boys in a sitting - probably why he was so big in the end and died so close to the toilet.
Well, I bastardized The King’s alleged favorite by making it face open and topped with Sharp Cheddar and Bananas.
Now, Ladies and Gentleman I know this seems like an April Fools Joke, but I assure you it is Surprisingly Delicious...Ugly Delicious:
FOOLS GOLD PIZZA
INGREDIENTS:
- Pizza Crust
- Bacon (about 10 Slices)
- Peanut Butter
- Jelly
- 3/4 Cup of Sharp Cheddar
- Bananas
DIRECTIONS:
- For our Bacon - We want it Crispy and Flat...How do we get Crispy, Flat, Bacon. You Bake it in the Oven on a Rack Sheet. Load your Bacon into a 350 degree oven for 35-40mins. Be sure to flip your Bacon mid way through the baking process.
- While your Bacon is cooking you can prep your Pizza Crust. Start off with a layer of Peanut Butter - take it to the edge of your crust.
- Now smear your Jelly roughly 1/2 to 1 Inch Width away from the edge. When baking your Jelly will expand and move out to the edges. I tried out Strawberry and Grape Jelly and they both tasted great - comes down to personal preference.
- I also recommend using a block of Sharp Cheddar as it melts better than the packages of shredded cheese. While your Bacon is still baking take this time to shred ya chedda. The Cheese will act as Glue which will hold your Bacon and Bananas in place.
- Dice up your Banana into thin Slices
- Bacon Done Yet? Cool! Dab off your Bacon with a paper towel to absorb unwanted grease.
- Place your Bacon atop of your Peanut Butter and Jelly.
- Sprinkle on your Sharp Cheddar and Bananas.
- Place the Pizza into the Oven and Bake per the Pizza Crust instructions.
- Once your Pizza is out of the Oven let set for 5-10mins to allow your Ooey-Gooeiness to settle.
GRAB A SLICE OF LIFE
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Looks Gross - Yeah, I Know, but Don’t Knock It Until You Try It
- This is a Perfect Dish for Kids - That goes for the Making as well as Eating
- Have Hungry Mouths Available - This Biddy Does NOT Hold Up the Next Day
