On god we're giving EGO suits to managers now. I had to draw this because Jericho's been asking me to for a while now. He really liked the sunset colours and the wayfarerlings.
I don't know too much about this abnormality, but it seems like one of the many moth and butterflies related abnos, thus connecting it to the idea of death and grieving. This one in particular, just wants you to rest a little bit and warm your heart. It would make sense for Jericho to use it canonically, to heal the Sinners in combat.
I drew everything besides the umbrella. Really just plopped that in from Rodya's sprite.
So uhh apparently I've never given out any information on our Manager Jericho despite being the first Sinner I had designed...
Have this... LCDT Branch Manager Jericho.
I really wanted to talk about a few things to I cooked up this sketch just for my flavour text down here.
I was thinking about how Yi Sang, LCB Sinner No. 1, was the one who developed the Mirror technology that would be vital in combat for the whole department. Unlike Dante's ability to rewind the individual's time, Jericho has the ability to restore one's humanity to the Sinners contracted with them. The source of this power is the flower stem planted into their heart. It remains closed right now, but when they use their powers, the flowers will open. I suppose it has something to do with Salpippyeo Aggroindustry's singularity. The one who had brought this flower to Jericho was Morgen, Dream Tram's Sinner No. 1. I got this idea from Flowers for Algernon. A branch of condensed souls and wishes, which is used to store the minds of Sinners on the Dream Tram while reconstructing their damaged body.
Some personal information about Jericho. They are related to the Gods of the City, and they are on death row of some sort. They used to be kind and optimistic, but when commanding the Dream Tram, they felt like they must harden themselves and keep distance so they wouldn't lead everyone astray from their mission. Jericho could be quite harsh, often yelling at the Sinners they're in charge of, but they never complain when they have to use the flowers' power to revive them. The Sinners themselves have guessed that this power must do an equivalent exchange on Jericho's body, from what they heard within the LCB's department, but Jericho never spoke a word about it.
There might be some side effects involved, like being able to hear each other's thoughts when the flowers are opened. Of course this only has effects in a small vicinity. But it's a funny thought based on our situation as headmates...
Also, Jericho adores the lakes, but they cannot swim. They are very adept at riding whales... for some reason. Must have been another God of the City power.
Last fun fact... The reason why Jericho was the first sinner designed, was because of self shipping reason....... They really like Meursault. Their hair is kinda curling upwards to resemble Dante’s flaming head.
Thinking about when Dante meets Jericho and they exchange managerial notes. They have an opposite character arc I guess, where Dante goes from being meek to being properly commandeering while Jericho starts off extremely harsh then eventually mellows out to the Sinners.
Some first impressions from Dante were “wow, their Sinners are much friendlier than mine…” and the Tram Sinners’s impressions were “wow their manager is much nicer than ours…”
Funnily enough, that’s exactly why Jericho wouldn’t be able to lead the Bus and Dante wouldn’t be able to lead the Tram. The Bus doesn’t want to follow someone that yells at them while the Tram would just laze about and tests Dante’s patience until they gave in.
I imagine the guides and the bus drivers get along just fine though, even if they are opposite in vibes as well. I’ll definitely talk about those two one day. Just haven’t had a proper backstory for them.
Random things I’ve been talking about with my headmates: I do not have a clock head like Dante, I still have my physical head. I think I’ll have some kind of a clock heart instead. There’s a few extra mechanisms I wanted to add, like the ability to withhold or release someone’s humanity at the cost of my own.
Think of that humanity like a reserve of water. Everyone has their cup on the verge of overflowing at the start, so I took their excess for them. When they have grown stronger, that excess will be returned to them. They might mutate, but the end goal for Limbus Company seems to be to harvest this power and stabilise its wielders.
What this means in practise, for example, is with Shou, a cuckoo bird. His “humanity” is developing alongside his nature as an Outskirts monster. I feel like we’re using the cuckoo’s tactics on itself as we’re suppressing his bird instincts and raising his Insight. It has the most strain on me, because I feel like something inside claws at me to be destructive and act out. It’s not like me. But I’ve seen how long he has kept it within him, like it’s just matter of life, and he has never known better. When I keep him lobotomised, I feel bad for him, because I’m withholding such a fundamental part of him. But in the end, this contract can’t be broken, so we’ll both take turns sharing this wrathful compulsion.
I had a dream that somebody sent me a hate mail saying that Jericho is too rude in the Dream Tram and he needs to tone it down. And he responded back by telling them to fuck off. But the thing is, he’s only rude in the Tram. It’s like a reverse Dante situation where our irl Jericho is kind and sweet but in the tram he’s mean and authoritative.
Anyway, he is kind of sad that we can’t shard Hornet Meursault yet. Don’t have any time to grind in game but have plenty of time to draw for some reason. I guess my attention span just works that way. If I’m not in the mood to do something then I just couldn’t do it, for weeks on end.
