"I will burn the world to keep you warm..."
"Please save her!" Before the flame goes out..."
You'll never guess which one said it, hehe.
Based on the Inuit's amauti coat, made to carry lil baby in their big hood. I got the idea for the Hand of Glory from Iyowa's Adipocere.
Deep dive below:
The Hand of Glory is made of the left hand of a hanged convict (usually a man). The history of it is kind of long so I'm not sure if I wanna get into it here. Know that in this abnormality, the mother used her own hand as the torch and her other hand is skeletal (unable to burn). She also has cow horns because it's said that the fire of a Hand of Glory can only be extinguished with milk... and milk -> cow -> mom soooo... Oh and her braid also goes around her neck like a hanged man.
The real one controlling this abnormality is the baby inside her hood. When all the flames have been transferred to the Hand of Glory, it signifies the end of the mother's life as shown by her braid that drags around like a tail or umbilical cord. The baby shows itself, pleading for you to save her, even though it is freezing. Could it have been the mother pleading instead for you to save the child before she extinguishes?
Nonetheless, this boss fight deals with vicious amount of burn and sinking. I had thought of making it an Aleph almost. Thrones and Huin will get their EGOs for sure, but it signifies different things for them.
To Thrones, she is the baby, desperately burning things to try and save her mother.
On the flip side, Ryoshu is the mother, burning everything to save her child.... Also, Ryoshu's glove is also on the left hand.
To Huin, this represents how he was controlled by his brother, who made him feel like he had to burn everything just to satisfy zem. It's more so sinking and panicking than burning. He's afraid that the child will go cold if he stops burning, so he uses his own body heat to keep its life going.
And on the flip side, Hong Lu would instead feel himself trying to save as little heat as possible, to save both of them if he could. I just think that's what he would do.
I really want to draw my Sinners like others have been doing but I started so late... Worry not, I will finish the last six... I have been neglecting them so much...
This is actually my first time seeing them in gendered clothing.
Anyway!! Come down here for image ID and rambles:
Baby Morgen looks so apologetic even though she hasn’t done anything wrong. 😭 Her weapon, the fairy arm, has been replaced with child safe balloon sword! It is normally coiled and can be sprung out for extra range. Her class is the 🐘. I’ve decided that 🐘 class stands for the “garden project”.
Baby Hyde is looking eerily similar to Jekyll without his glasses or gleeful smile. Instead, he wears a gentle look on his face with a hand puppet that looks a lot like the adult Hyde we know. His weapon is now a rubber mallet! His class is the 🐧. I’ve decided that the 🐧 class stands for rebellion!
Baby Holmes is only 3, but he is already a genius who can study alongside older classmates! He really dislikes wearing hats, no matter if it rains or shines. His weapons are thick gloves for children as he uses gauntlets normally. That said, punching with them is so out of fashion! Baby Holmes only specialises in tug of war and kiddie wrestling. His class is the 🐥, which I’ve decided to mean curiosity!
Baby Thrones is 9 and overqualified to be here. She is quite excited to participate in play though, can’t you tell? Her anticipating gaze bores into you harsher than usual without her sunglasses concealing them. Her grip on the large piece of felted ham says she is super ready for field day. She is from the 🐥 class, as she is the most enthusiastic learner ever.
Baby Ermine has crafted his very own water gun from recycled water bottles! However, he won’t share it with anyone, so how could we play together? It is advisable that you do not let him point it at Don Quixote, if you have any mercy to spare for us. I’m sure he will listen as long as you commend his great work. His class is the 🐘 as he is related to the "garden project".
Baby Huin is sadder than ever. You hear his younger brother recently passed away and there’s nothing you can do for him. Despite that, you encouraged him to draw his own future with a magnified pencil. A truly wonderful drawing will be made by him. He belongs to the class 🐧, for he will carve out a way forward for himself.
Lots of things ended up different from my initial idea. There were supposed to be more toys on the ground, but welp... I didn't draw it. I give you one simple Nothing There plushie. Thrones is standing inside the Lobotomy Corp's containment unit, wearing her researcher outfit like Hokma while wearing the prison clothes underneath. The shadow overcasting her is of a baby wind chime, dangling in a way that resembles a halo on her head. There are written scribbles on the wall saying "Hello" and "I Love You", positioned low enough to indicate that a child had written it. The camera that usually feeds straight into management is broken on the right side of the screen. The outside of this room is the scenery from the CG where Carmen was lying on the grass.
I never mentioned it, but I was thinking about how this lady should have been old enough to have joined Lobotomy Corp in its infancy and raised several baby abnormalities. It is a wish fulfilment fantasy, I won't deny it. I haven't spoken much about Thrones because of that. Her signature, from the ID card means the cradle of god, and when you put this and that together, it should kinda piece together what kind of role she played for Lobotomy Corporation. Go my granny Sue.
That's all for now I think. I may add more baby toys later on when I have more ideas. It should be enough to litter the floor with. Drawing this was quite fun though. The colours of the containment room makes me feel so nostalgic.
I forgot to mention that she is holding a dreidel in her hand. And the name of the EGO comes from the Jewish blessing "May you live till 120 years". There's lots of ways to interpret that. I've seen some that say it means to live 100 years with the vitality of a 20 year old. Either way, it reminded me of Lobcorp's time loop situation.
Wanted to push this out tonight for all the different timezone enjoyers.
Story section:
Former researcher of Lobotomy Corporation, Thrones. Now, senior advisor onboard the Dream Tram. Prefers to use less words in communication. The only things that piques her interests are researching Abnormalities, critiquing art and training her coworkers for a better performance.
[WARNING]: This Sinner is prone to using extreme violence to settle disagreements.
[NOTICE]: Records of this Sinner's past are strictly confidential, dear Manager.
Management notes:
I wanted to write more, but I was denied at every turn. She often excercises her autonomy to shut others up. It took an hour just to write this description because it keeps getting deleted. :(
She sometimes lights a matchstick in her mouth just like the Scorched Girl's ego gift, however, she doesn't smoke, as she claims it's not good for children to exposed to them. Should any of her coworkers say anything disagreeable, she will inflict a most certainly fatal bash to their body. It is undoubtably painful to revive them each time, but she will continue to do so until the Sinners reflect upon themselves.
Her hobby is writing logs of Abnormalities encounters.
My LCB check up art is finally done! I'm straining my eyes to write this rn. I drew like 6 of them in one day. I think. Idk anymore. At least it’s done!!
I haven’t talked about the rest of the crew in detail because they always get pushed out last. So as you can see, Shou parallels Heathcliff, Sirin parallels Ishmael, Chetwyn parallels Rodya, Yoru parallels Sinclair, Othello parallels Outis and Fajie parallels Gregor. Parallel in what you might wonder? Vibes and general story arc.
Admittedly I’ve yet to read a lot of their sources but I know their personality well enough, they’re in my head after all. I’ll talk more in detail when I release each’s ID card as those take lesser time to draw.
So here’s the fun fact section!
Shou has the biggest eye to head ratio out of everyone because he is still a baby bird. We meme him a lot because he’s always staring at the camera with impure thoughts in his mind.
I almost made a Sirin a completely pink cat but eh, it doesn’t have as good contrast as keeping her skin furless. I have the least information about her origins, but I still know she resonates strongly with Blue Star and Fragment from the Universe.
Chetwyn was my favourite to draw. I contemplated screenshotting him many times to post it here but I held back and waited for everyone to be done. He also has the longest face as far as I checked.
Yoru’s hair reminds me of Dazai, which I received commentary from my headmates that it’s unsurprising if he ended up having the same fanbase. He is a little sad here because they told him to stand there without her sword for a bit.
Othello thinks nothing. Not a single thought in its head. Even without a face it feels so emotive that I can’t help but laugh.
Me. Best girl ofc. I was looking up my potential literary source trying to figure out how to adapt it but eh. Take many creative liberties. I also debated whether to keep the black roots in or leave it pure blonde. In the end I did keep the black roots because it kinda makes my head look flatter.
