I'd like to know more about Ruby being Jess.

tbh i haven't thought much beyond "wouldn't it be neat lol." but i do think it has some substance. jess goes to hell (idk why but it doesn't matter) and over the course of s1-2 is turned into a demon and the entire time she's being fed one singular goal: destroy sam winchester. and like she's not not on board with that. the guy lied to her and she burned on the ceiling for him. but! she's smart and so is lilith! so she pretends like the sole thing running through her metaphorical veins isn't revenge. and when she makes it topside, none of the other demons are surprised when she immediately throws in with the winchesters. of course she has a soft spot for sam! of course she's gonna help him! if he takes the throne in hell like he's supposed to, she'll get to rule by his side.

but then he kills lilith and the final seal breaks and she gets the big reveal and oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!! the fallout of that?? whew. it would be so good.

you know what would be even better though? scenario where jess was possessed by ruby so sam was actually dating ruby the entire time he was living his Normal College Boy Life and jess was trapped in her body the whole time. and then she finds out that sam was a hunter and just... chose not to notice all the signs of demon possession. he could've saved her but he chose to be oblivious for his own sake and then jess burned on the ceiling and something in jess's soul snapped. she spends the next however many years in hell mangling herself into the kind of monster sam can't kill and that's how we get ruby 2.0. (so, just to recap: jess was actually ruby 1.0, ruby 1.0 was herself, and ruby 2.0 was jess).

anyway. lots of possibilities and i am rotating then in my mind, as one does.

Jess has been hunting with Sam since Dean showed up in their apartment rambling about John being missing, that was over a year ago, John’s dead, Dean’s dead. So when Ruby walks into their life saying she can make both of them strong enough to expel demons without hurting the person it’s controlling, well it’s just too good to be true.

And when Dean does come back to find his brother and brothers girlfriend sucking down demon blood per their new demon girlfriend, there’s nothing he can do to stop them.

They have just finished bringing each other to Heaven, and Ruby is playing with Jess' hair.

She twirls it, lets the bouncing curls slip through her fingers, lets them tangle through her nails. Jess feels pinpricks as it shifts, reflecting the shadows the way Ruby's reflect light.

Sam used to pull. Ruby just plays, even during sex. Her black eyes are focused on it, like one wrong twist may ruin her work - like the spiderweb she's weaving will tear open if she loses a single strand. She always leaves it soft as rain, the sharp faint scent of her nail polish trapped somewhere beneath the curls.

"You wear light well," she says, sometimes, with a yearning Jess doesn't quite comprehend.

"Do you want me?" Jess answers, sometimes, and Ruby smiles, sad and cruel.

"Doesn't matter."

And still the fingers go round and round, tumbling through, enticing her into the spiral of her devotion. Her hair shifts, cascading into the pillow with soft, brushing sounds.

Some days, she hopes it will be enough to get her to stay.
