Johanne is fluent in at least four languages. The rest are conversational due to her and her father traveling around Europe often before settling in the US.
Norwegian is her native language. English and German follow right after. Before she met her step-grandfather, she made the effort to learn German and continued learning until she spoke it without trouble. She could manage Swedish and Danish, simply because of the similarities between them and Norwegian.
She’s conversational in Spanish, specifically Dominican and Puerto Rican, simply because of the area she currently lives in (Washington Heights, New York) and how long she’s lived there. Russian and French are also in her list of conversational languages due to her ballet teacher as well as dealings her father had when she was little, but they’ve gotten rusty over the years. Her Finnish and Korean are somewhat conversational but have better practice when she works overseas.
Southern Sami, the Jämtland dialect, follows after them since her birth mother was part Sami and she wanted to honor that. Unfortunately, it’s difficult for her to practice it without someone who knows the language.
Additionally, she can write both bokmål and nynorsk.

Johanne's voice is def more suited for a rock/alternative genre rather than pop, but she has a wide vocal range as well so she can delve into it but it's not her first pick.
The two of them met at an international dance competition a little before Johanne graduated college. Since her group did not speak a lick of any Nordic language but were interested in some of the dancers in Rami's team, they asked Johanne to introduce them since she spoke Norwegian. The issue was that Rami and his team were Finnish, and that was not close to Jo's native tongue.
In an attempt to introduce their teammates to one another, Jo and Rami conversed in a mix of Swedish and broken English. It was a whole mess but it got the point across and the two dancers laughed it off at the end of the competition. They decided to keep in touch by exchanging numbers and socials.
What ended up happening after that was that they frequented each other's gigs over the years very often whenever either of them went overseas.
If Johanne was in Europe for work, Rami was bound to be present for the project. If Rami flew to the US for work, Jo will undoubtedly be on the roster. Whether it was for dance competitions, music videos, or even modeling side jobs— they were two peas in a pod and formed a deep friendship.
However, this only applied whenever they were working or competing. They rarely spent time outside of work, the times being after-parties and what little down time they had before returning home. It didn't bother either of them though, content with their friendship.
Rami playfully flirts with Johanne, often making a bit of a show about how pretty and amazing he thinks she is. Her banter in return swings between her usual dry tone to complimenting him back which never fails to fluster him. There are times where their relationship is called into question, but they make it clear that they preferred to keep it mostly professional between the two of them and they're simply being friendly.
Until both of them got drunker than usual in one of the after-parties they attended, and slept together that night and the morning after. It wasn't planned by either of them: they'd simply been sharing stories about each other's exes, bedroom details from their experiences, and jokes (that were mostly from Rami) about what they would do better. Their back-and-forth eventually became intense to a point that led to them sleeping together.
When they woke up, neither of them felt as awkward about it happening as much as they thought and the realization of that had been sobering. Rami joked about going another round since they were drunk the first time, a usual thing he did when he got nervous. Despite knowing that, Johanne surprisingly agreed to it out of curiosity.
They spent the rest of the day actually hanging out as if nothing changed, both of them too anxious to bring up what it might mean, even when they had to fly back to their respective countries later that evening. They've agreed to talk about it at some point, but both have skirted around the subject since then.
Knowing how her last relationship went, Rami's reason for doing so is because he doesn't want to put Johanne through what had caused her and her last ex, Owain, to break-up about. Other reasons are that he's genuinely attracted to her and respects her a lot, and doesn't want to mess up a possible confession or make it seem like it was fueled by a night and morning of really great sex, and some insecurities of himself.
Johanne's reasons for skirting around it, when she'd typically be quick and direct with things, are that she values her friendship with Rami greatly and she wants to figure it out herself if she is actually interested in him romantically before making any decisions about it. Rami's dating history is less troubled than hers, and that's not something she wants to make worse.

Jedaiah Gibson - While the relationship was brief due to Johanne not knowing that this was the person that had endangered her siblings since she was with her grandparents in Norway at the time, it left a mark on her given how verbally and physically violent he was towards her. She always fought back and had to keep doing so even after they broke up. Johanne eventually got a restraining order on him after she was injured by him.
Owain Yates - This was her longest running relationship, having ran for three years. Their age gap at the time they started dating and the timing of it was questionable and acknowledged, but their families being friends for a longtime gave some leeway to it. The long distance aspect of their relationship and wanting each other to move to their respective countries for work and family was trying, resulting in their break up.
Owain still waits for Johanne to come back, despite her not feeling the same.
Alynna Im - It's a flirtationship of the sort between Alyn and Johanne. They've known each other since college and keep up with one another often enough. Alyn is interested in pursuing something further than friendship with Jo, but is very focused on expanding their fashion brand first.
Rami Tuominen - One of Johanne's dance colleagues/friends that she sees often when either of them work overseas, it's the same situation as with Alynna: a flirtationship. However, that one drunken night they spent is one he replays in his mind often. He himself is interested in dating her but his frequent travels make it difficult to attempt a deeper connection.
Akira Hoshino - Unfortunately for Akira, it's a one-sided crush on his end currently. Unlike her other two admirers, he is able to spend a lot of time with Johanne due to her connection to the band he's in and their friendship. While all the members of Vizual Bandit are tight-knit and encourage one another, they consider Jo as one of them and tread carefully on such matters.
