what really amazes me of the jiangs is that according to the book they have months to prepare for an attack, why wouldn't do something it case of an attack? CR had already burn without a reason and they knew that wwx had angered wen chao they had time to plan and make allies but instead they continue their lives as nothing happen and even the sect leader goes away, also we know madame yu hates wwx but if the enemy goes to your door, it's not a good idea to attack one of your assests, worse when seconds later you order him to protecte the heir, doesn't make sense
STRONGLY AGREE.

Henlo. Before you take words from a Chinese poem to be the name of a person in your fic, please double check with your nearest Chinese speaking friend. Poetry depends on context. Without the context, you've just named your child "Fishly Desires"
The thing about the Jiangs (and Wei) is that they’re all protectors. They are willing to do (and in many cases actually do) anything to save the people they love.
Jiang Fengmian finds his friend’s son begging in the streets, and immediately, with no thought at all, brings him home to raise as his own son.
He also, upon finding his three children tied up with Zidian and hearing his wife has gone to fight the invaders, pushes their boat away and goes to protect his wife.
Jiang Cheng spends most of the series complaining at Wei for his outrageous behavior, but that is entirely because he is worried about him. The fake "exile" was partly to keep the other clans satisfied, but also to give them a reason not to go after Wei Wuxian. Jiang Cheng even flat out says it at one point: "If you insist on protecting them, then I won't be able to protect you!" He may grouse and fuss, but underneath it all he really cares about Wei Wuxian. (He also offers to protect Wen Qing in Lotus Pier when he comes to the Burial Mounds.)
Wei Wuxian is possibly the most egregious example of this, and one may successfully argue that he's got an overdeveloped Hero Complex. Not only does he (along with Jiang Cheng) cherish his sister and want to give her the "best wedding" to someone who appreciates and deserves her, not only does he give up his golden core for Jiang Cheng, there's the whole deal with the Wens.
The Wens (at least Wen Qing and Wen Ning's branch of the clan) might do things for other people, but it's strictly quid pro, "a kindness for a kindness." And maybe there's some of that in what Wei Wuxian did for Wen Ning, since Wen Qing helped him with the golden core, but most of what he did for the Wens is because they were innocents being persecuted and it was the right thing to do. We all know what he paid for his protection of them.
Last of all is Yanli. Her brand of "protection" is more subtle and less overt, but it's definitely there. She keeps the peace between her brothers, and makes sure they both know the other cares about them. She makes sure they're getting enough food and rest. She protects Wei Wuxian from dogs. She takes time out from her wedding to bring Wei Wuxian soup (and goes ahead and gives Wen Ning a bowl too) and shows him her wedding dress. Her kindness even extends to Jin Zixuan, giving someone else soup to give to him, because she wants him to eat and knows he won't accept it from her.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
I feel like jc stans who consider the jiangs as wwx's family don't get the fact that a person has the right that they can leave a toxic family or a toxic environment. Like just because they're family doesn't mean that it absolves the things that they do.
I feel like jc stans who consider the jiangs as wwx's family and demand for him to remain in that relationship/ dynamic are the are the type of family or toxic environment others have the right to leave. Like otherwise who would rail that vehemently against the idea someone doing what's clearly healthy for them. And yeah let's stop romanticizing this: "they're abusive and homophobic and they gaslight & hurt me every day but they're family 🥴🥰" mindset bc that's the shit abusers say to emotionally blackmail ppl into situations that are bad for them. There was a tweet going around that was like "yeah you only have one family, but you also only have one appendix and if that shit gets inflamed & becomes toxic you adios that motherfucker" xoxo
