Guest Strip 2: Cat’s off to You

It’s Phillby! The man who would go on to be the artist for Rooms spin-off, Turnus, delivers a wonderfully insane guest strip here. Phillby also drew a two page Rooms fan comic at one point. It was never in the main Rooms archives so I haven’t posted it here but I might post it up on my main blog at some point.

who wakes up first: .... again, Bailey i just... he strikes me as the get up early type, even tho he works nights. between the two of them, Bailey still gets up first (like, 1pm vs Jimmy’s usual 3pm)

who is more protective: as w like all my ships, arguable. i mean tbt Jimmy being super overprotective of Bailey and getting yelled @ but also Bailey is more involved in the criminal scene than Jimmy and ppl are more likely to target him n his loved ones. but consider Jimmy’s family, so Jimmy would be super high strung when Bailey is involved.

who sings in the shower: arguably both. like.... rly its jsut.. natural for them both to belt out song lyrics in the shower.

11. “You don’t need to protect me.”

"Oh my god!" Bailey shouted, ripping his arm out of Jimmy's grip. Jimmy frowned and shook his head, clearly not understanding the situation at all.

"Bay?" he asked, gesturing helplessly with his hands.

"You don't need to protect me, James!" Bailey let out an incoherent scream and gripped his hair, shaking his head like he was trying to rip it out at the roots. He was well aware of the eyes on them, well aware that Michael and Trevor and Franklin could hear every word they were saying from inside the car that was parked in front of Bailey's parents' house.

Jimmy scoffed in disbelief. "Excuse me for trying to protect the man I love!" he yelled back, clenching his fists at his sides.

Bailey whirled around, hands sliding out of his hair and his arms hanging limply at his sides.

"I didn't ask you to save me!" he shouted. "I didn't ask you to love me! Jesus Christ, Jimmy! I'm not a delicate little doll!"

"I can't fucking lose you!" Jimmy screamed arms lashing out to grab Bailey's shoulders. His head hung limply between them, their breathing both harsh as they stood there. "God, Bailey. I can't... Lose you."

Bailey huffed a sob and shook his head, tears flinging off his face and landing everywhere, including Jimmy's arms. In an instant, Jimmy moved his hands from Bailey's shoulder to his face, stroking away the tears.

"You have no idea," Jimmy whispered, "how much I love you, Bailey. I need to protect you. I love you. I can't lose you. I need you."

He surged forward and pressed their lips together and Bailey sobbed against him, throwing his arms around Jimmy's shoulder so he could pull himself flush against the redhead. Jimmy broke the kiss and peppered Bailey's face with kisses, regardless of whether there were tears or not.

"I love you so much," Bailey whispered. "I'm sorry."

Jimmy shook his head and pressed a harsh kiss to Bailey's lips. "I know. I love you," he murmured, the first tears rolling down his own cheeks after he broke the kiss, pressing their foreheads together, stroking Bailey's cheeks.

“Okay,” Bailey started. “You want me to…”

Jimmy nodded. “Dress up as Bailey Terror and pretend to be my girlfriend.”

Bailey blinked. He looked around his room, looking for anything out of place that could possibly be a hidden camera. Because this was so not happening. His crush was so not asking him to use his professional persona to pretend to be his girlfriend. Bailey could hardly stand to be around Jimmy because his heart went ninety miles an hour, but now Jimmy need him -no, her- to be his fake girlfriend.

“… Why?” Bailey asked when he didn’t see anything that could be a camera.

The red head took a deep breath. “Because my dad thinks we spend too much time together and he wants to know if we’re dating but we’re not dating and I told him it was because I was dating someone else because he seems to think I’m gay and that we’re dating but I know we’re not and you know we’re not but my dad’s a fucking asshole andI'mreallysorryBay!”

Bailey raised his eyebrows at the hurried statement. Had Jimmy even taken a breath? It all came out very rushed, but Bailey got the gist of it. Michael De Santa was a piece of shit, what else was new? And so, Bailey took a deep breath and put his hand on Jimmy’s knee.

“Fine,” he bit out. “But you better buy me new lingerie for this little dress up bullshit.”

Jimmy’s face lit up and he nodded rapidly. “Anything! Anything! Thank you Bay! Thank you so much!”

Honestly, the things Bailey did for love.

i smushed ‘em into one. idk if i like the ending but at the same time it’s so very Bailey.

“I didn’t know you could sing,” Bailey stated flatly, looking anywhere but Jimmy De Santa. They were in the De Santa home with Tracey’s karaoke machine set up. Amanda was curled into the couch next to Bailey and Tracey was giggling on the other couch, clapping along as the beat to Jimmy’s song faded out. Michael sat grumpily next to Tracey, arms folded across his chest, glaring probably at the karaoke machine.

Jimmy gave Bailey an unusually bright smile and a thumbs up. “Your turn, Bay,” he said instead of addressing Bailey’s comment. He swaggered over to the couch and plopped down as Bailey pushed himself up.

“Are you drunk?” Bailey mumbled to himself, although he knew Jimmy wasn’t. The alcohol was… Somewhere. Bailey wouldn’t put it passed Trevor the Creepy Sewer Man to have robbed all the booze from the De Santa house. Either way, none of them were drunk. Which was, perhaps, why Michael was so completely unhappy.

Bailey shook his thoughts away and approached the karaoke machine, flipping through the songs installed. He picked one and sighed, turning to face the four De Santas to sing. He was surprised and slightly uncomfortable to find them all staring intently at him. Bailey cleared his throat and shook off their staring in time for the music to start.

“Sometimes you gotta bleed to know, that you’re alive and have a soul! But it takes someone to come around, to show you how!” And just like that it was easy for Bailey to lose himself in the song. And just as easy as it was for him to sing, it was hard for him to look away from the ginger of the De Santa family, the ginger staring at him intently with slightly parted lips, the ginger that still made his heart falter even though they were only friends. Bailey fumbled over the end of the song and then passed the microphone to the suddenly very eager Tracey before sitting between his friend and his friend’s mom.

Jimmy nudged him playfully as Tracey hemmed and hawed over a song. “That was romantic,” Jimmy joked, and Bailey rolled his eyes.

“Yep,” he said dryly, “I’m flirting with you. Via song. I orchestrated this whole thing to serenade you in front of your terrifying father.” The pair grinned at each other for a beat too long, only startled away when Tracey started singing horribly off key.

When she was done, Michael cursed under his breath and took the microphone before he fussed with the music he wanted to sing.

“Hey,” Jimmy whispered, drawing Bailey’s attention quickly due to his whisper. “Can I kiss you then?”

It took Bailey’s brain a moment to process what Jimmy had said, and another moment to process a proper reaction. Was he joking? Bailey felt his face heating up in surprise and then his vision blacked out in response to Jimmy’s question.
