Let's Do It Again was released on 11 October 1975.

The film reunited screenwriter Richard Wesley with Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier (who also directed), who had all been involved in Uptown Saturday Night (1974), although the film is not a sequel.

Wesley had written the script for Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor (Pryor had also appeared in Uptown Saturday Night), but the studio wanted actors who would appeal more to "mainstream America." The film also included John Amos and Jimmie Walker, who were starring together in the hit TV series, Good Times.

The soundtrack, written by Curtis Mayfield, included the #1 hit theme song, performed by the Staple Singers.

Although released near the end of the year, Let's Do It Again was one of the highest-grossing films of 1975.
