You’d booked your usual spot on the astro pitch for your weekly training session with the under 13s club you trained. It was usually a bit hectic, with twenty rowdy tweens running around trying to be the next Messi or Van Dijk, but you love it. It’s a mix of boys and girls which is amazing, when you were younger there was one girls team in the county and nowhere near as much funding as there is now.
About half way through the session, the kids are put into groups to practice a passing drill, everything was going smoothly, the kids weren’t too excitable, not taking the piss or acting up. At least for now, you have no doubt at some point one of the boys will try to red arse another, or someone will end up in the empty kit bag being dragged around the astro. It’s just standard, really.
You make rounds, checking in on each team giving encouragement and corrections when needed.
You get to the last group, and they’re doing so well until Jack totally misses a pass because his attention snaps to the other side of the pitch.
“Jack, what’re you doing, mate?”
He continues to down the pitch, mouth agape like he doesn’t even hear you. There’s a group of people setting something up, some sort of video by the looks of it. Cameras set up, the guys clipping mic packs onto their shirts.
“Jack?” You try to get his attention again.
“Sorry!” His head snaps to the side to look at you, pointing down the pitch, “but that- I swear, that’s ChrisMD and Theo Baker.”
You know who they are, obviously. You grew up watching the UK YouTube scene, the football videos from the Sidemen, Chris, Theo.
“Well, it looks like they’re filming a video or something, we don’t want to bother them, do we? Besides, you’ve got training to do. Maybe when they’re finished I’ll go over and see if they’ve got five minutes to come over and speak to you, yeah?” You offer, ruffling his hair.
“Er, I don’t think we have to wait until they finish,” he laughs, pointing across the pitch to a short figure absolutely legging it towards them. “I think Archie’s made that decision himself.”
“Oh, for fuck sake.” You mutter, taking off in a jog to chase after him. “Archie!”
When you reach the other side of the astro, Archie’s talking to Chris and Theo. He’s obviously star struck, bouncing on the balls of his feet, talking a hundred miles a minute.
“And- And she’s gonna take us to the charity match next year, and she’s like the best footballer ever, even as a girl! Like, better than you!” Archie rambles.
“Jesus Christ, Archie,” you shake your head and look at the YouTubers, “I’m really sorry. He’s supposed to be doing drills, not harassing you guys.”
“It’s alright,” Chris chuckles, “it happens. We’ve got time anyway, still waiting on a few others to show up.”
“Who else?!” Archie asks, this is like Christmas to him. “What are you filming?”
“We’ve got Danny Aarons, Ciaran Carlin, Bach, Arthur TV, and AB coming,” Chris explains, incredibly patient given that there’s an over excited eleven year old acting like an excited puppy. “And we’re doing a new defender added every time you score.”
Archie lands you right in it when he says, “Oh, Coach, you’d smoke that challenge.”
“You that good?” Theo challenges, eyebrows raised in doubt.
“Mate, she’s better at free kicks than you and Chris.” Archie brags like he’s the one who could beat them.
“Oh my god, Archie, be quiet.” You sigh, not wanting an eleven year old to embarrass you in front of ChrisMD. Like, come on, it’s ChrisMD and literally thousands of girls fancy him and you’re not immune to it either.
“Nah, nah, Coach, come on! You could beat them, easy!”
“Sounds like a challenge to me,” Theo shrugs, obviously feeling confident that this kid was just bigging you up.
“Fuck it,” you shrug and turn to Archie, “don’t tell your mum I swore in front of you.”
He imitates zipping his mouth shut and nods excitedly. How is his coach now going to challenge ChrisMD and Theo Baker to a football challenge?
“If you have time, we can do some free kicks,” you agree, not over confident, just sure of yourself.
Archie cheers and bolts back up the pitch to get the rest of the team down to watch. His shouts echoing across the astro. And like you predicted, Jack and Archie are pulling Katie and Alex in the empty kit bag down the pitch, followed by a wave of under 13s.
“I’m so sorry,” you apologise again, “you didn’t have to do this, but, thank you, you really have made their day.”
“It’s alright, we’ve got plenty of time.” Chris says politely.
“Even if we didn’t, I want to see if you’re as good as he says,” Theo laughs.
Once the kids are settled, Danny, Arthur and AB have arrived which caused more commotion with the kids, but it worked out because there’d be a wall for the free kicks. You’re confident in your ability, you wouldn’t embarrass yourself in front of two the football YouTubers, but your team is properly bigging you up, chanting and shouting.
“First to score five?” Theo suggests, acting the big man with his overexaggerated warm ups. Stretching his arms and jogging on the spot.
“Sounds fair.” You nod, tightening the ponytail on top of your head.
“Ladie’s first,” Theo smiles, correcting himself when you go to step up to the ball, “I meant Chris.”
That gets a chorus of laughs from the eleven to thirteen year olds watching, and obviously comes the jokes and pre-teens ripping into the two older men.
“Chris, you’re shit.”
“Language!” You scold.
“Chris, you’re shorter than me and I’m half your age!”
That one gets a laugh because Jake is 13 and almost as tall as you already.
“Theo, I think you’re due a trip to Turkey mate, that trim is tragic.”
“That hat’s not hiding anything Theo.”
You shush the rowdy crowd, trying not to laugh and encourage them to be rude, but they’re full of that young arrogance and they fully believe you can beat Chris and Theo which is nice.
Chris does his usual, clean free kick, the ball rattling the net, top bins. That only makes the group of kids boo him.
Theo goes next, the keeper gets a hand on it but ultimately it hits the back of the net. Another round of boos.
You step up next, your group shouting ideas at you.
“Left foot it, Y/N.”
“Trivela it!”
“Do the Nakamura against United in ‘06!”
“You weren’t even born then!” Theo exclaims, looking at the group in shock that they know such a niche reference.
“Yeah, and you were born about a hundred years before football was even invented, so what bruv?” Jack sasses back.
“Jack, cut it out, you’re not a roadman, chill.”
“Yes, boss.”
You do decide to show off a little. Why not try to impress the guy you’ve had a crush on for ages? A sweet little left foot, top right bins. Almost like the Nakamura ‘06 goal.
The ball doesn’t sail over the wall like you think they’re expecting. There’s a sharp crack as your foot collides with the ball, and it’s in the back of the net before anyone can react.
The YouTubers all look on in shock, your football team running around mad, celebrating like they were the ones who scored a worldie. It just makes it all the more amazing that you’re so calm about it.
“Jesus Christ!” Chris exclaims, looking at you like you’d just shown him colour for the first time. “That was a left foot?”
“Yeah,” you shrug nonchalantly.
“That was… impressive.” He looks like he’s struggling to find the words to describe it.
The free kicks go on again, Chris hits the post, Theo’s was off target and yours curls perfectly into the right corner of the net. The third Chris’s shot goes in with a great curl that looked like it was going to be miles off before rattling the back of the net.
Theo’s shot hits Arthur TV in the stomach gaining another round of laughter from everyone, possibly on purpose in Theo’s defence since Arthur was winding him up and calling him Malfoy. You just go for a standard free kick, hitting the back of the net again.
You and Chris banter back and forth, trying to put the other off. Maybe it’s bordering on flirting, maybe that’s just wishful thinking. But you have to be mindful of the group of kids watching every shot and calling out their own jabs at the YouTubers.
The fourth go, everyone scores, but you’re already winning on the first to score five having not missed a shot. They’re all calling for you to miss one, trying anything to distract you. It feels like there should be some sort of royalty free music track building up in the background.
You decide to show off, why not. You’ve got Chris Dixon watching you, obviously you want to impress him. To be fair, all of them are watching you, but you can feel Chris’s eyes on you, that’s the only thing that’s making you feel the slightest bit nervous.
You take your run up, strike the ball perfectly with the outside of your foot and watch it fly through the air. Danny, Arthur and AB all jump, turn, do whatever to get a touch on it.
When it hits the back of the net, the rowdy group of pre-teens jump up, celebrating like you’d scored the winner in the Champions League. The YouTubers look on in shock, AB and Danny join in, jumping up and down, shouting in shock.
Chris and Theo just bury their heads in their hands. Theo sits down on the astro, flopping back onto his back, accepting defeat.
When the group all settles down again, Chris comes over to you. “Fair play, that was incredible.”
Your hand meets his with a high five. Your smile mirrors his, it’s hard not to when ChrisMD is complimenting you.
“Thanks, not every day you get to out perform the guy who says he’s better at free kicks than most premier league players,” you joke.
“Okay, I didn’t- I meant-” He laughs, stuttering over his explanation, “most premier league footballers don’t take free kicks so, you know?”
“I guess that makes me better at taking free kicks than most prem players too, then.”
“I guess it does.” He agrees. He makes no move to leave or say goodbye, just stands maybe a little awkwardly.
So you decide to shoot your shot.
“Are you gonna ask for my number then, or..?”
“I am trying to figure out how.” He nods, chuckling nervously.
“Do you want me to type my number into your phone?”
“That would be great.” He takes his phone out and unlocks it to hand it over.
The interaction is slightly awkward but cute. Chris wanted to ask but didn’t want to overstep due to the fact that you’re working right now. Either way, the two of you have gotten what you wanted.
You quickly type in your number and save it, handing the phone back over. He sends a quick text so you have his number in your phone. “You can text me and we’ll organise a date.”
He agrees with a smile. The group around you is chaos of the kids pelting footballs at the goal, AB and Danny joining in. Theo and Arthur watch the two of you, murmuring between themselves.
“I better get that lot back to training before their parents come to get them,” you say, not really wanting to but you have a job to do. “But thanks for that, I had fun and so did they.”
“So did I.”
You get your group wrangled and back to the top of the astro to finish their training. Chris and the boys were kind enough to take a picture with the group too. Your phone buzzes in your pocket and while the group is busy, you quickly check it.
It’s Chris, he’s sent the photos over, the chat bubble pops back up and then another text.
Chris - If you’re free tomorrow, I’d love to take you out for dinner and drinks x
You - I think a date is the least I owe you for embarrassing you like that in front of your friends and a group of fans x
OKAY SO! I HAVE DRAWN A BLANK FOR THE LAST HALF HOUR! AND being obviously Bruisedpetals/Blueink trash and I have NOT been able to get the idea of Stalker Mugman out of my head.
Listen! Bendy is egotistical! He LIKES having Mugman's attention on him at ALL times. He LIKES knowing that NO ONE can take his man because Mugs is stalking HIM!
If you want to add Dandy: Dandy knowing first. He watches. He's possessive himself and he sees how Bendy acts around Mugman and so he watches Mugman and he connects the dots. He watches as Mugman stalks Bendy and how Bendy preens under the attention. Honestly Bendy is like a kid pulling pigtails for attention. He doesn't know about the stalking but Dandy does. Maybe Dandy's jealous at first, maybe he starts noticing that when Mugman isn't watching Bendy he's watching him. Maybe he starts to like it too. Maybe he tells Bendy and both take advantage of it. Seeing how far they can push it before Mugman does something about it.
Goodness, was reading this and immediently thought of Tim Drake from DC 😭
But yes, I can see a younger Mugman and pre-broken up Darling Dancers for this
Mugman is obsessed with their show, travels everywhere to try and get a glimpse. Does every little chore and favor to scrape up enough money to buy merch for the darling dancers
but that's truly never enough for little Mugman
He gets a camera, some older handheld one that he can use and just starts taking pictures every time he goes to a performance, even if he's just standing outside
It gets worse when he finds out where they're staying
and even more so when the Darling Dancers find out
Bendy and Dandy have a bet going on, who can get that little mug to get the best photos of them wins
Mugman SWEARS that the dancers have been posing for him, but it would be too good to be true
Truly impressive how you spread so many lies and soviet propaganda about jews , truly an astonishing display of jew hate, while pretending to maintain that youre not an antisemite.
you should be studied
Hi! I'm very sorry you feel this way. I truly, deeply wish no ill will toward any Jewish person. I wish that everyone, across the world, could exist in a peaceful state of co-existence. I believe that my beliefs align with that wish, which is why I stand so firmly behind them. I can only hope you share my wish, and hope that in your mind, your beliefs align with that wish for peace and co-existence. Have a nice rest of your day!
So in the Curse of Strahd campaign I'm playing Masque got hit with a moonbeam spell and failed his saves. And so as flavor, my DM described the mask being revealed showing Finn crying underneath as it was trying to grow and take over his face.
There will likely be a part 2 where, at the last session, Masque handed his sister over to Strahd, the mask grew further over his face as he lost more of himself to the Sphinx.
So-
