father figure
how good of a father they would be?
1. geto suguru/nanami kento
them sharing the first place is only fair. they’re the most loving, caring, understanding and also responsible men you only wish to meet in your life. they're also ones who are not only good with children, but also want a family and very much looking forward to become a father one day. which means, they're excited when they learn there's a child on the way. they're the best help in the first days, not only they will gladly do half of the work, they probably spend more time with the baby than you. they have no problem with this new role of a father, it comes to them naturally and they don't feel overwhelmed. in a lot of ways, they're a looot more chill than you (which helps you a lot with your own stress). they genuinely enjoy spending time with a baby, even when a child is just few days old. however, their ways of parenting are different.
nanami, while being strict when needed, also recognizes the need to give a child freedom when growing up. he's a very trusting parent, who won't argue with his kid a lot, because his kid would probably tell him everything anyway. he's not pushy or controlling, he believes in building strong relationship by communication. being great at listening, he really never loses his position as a very dependable figure in your child's life. he's not judgemental nor unreasonable, so he understands that sometimes his child will need some alone time. he accepts everything that comes with a child (including the possibility of death, yes) and he comes prepared. it's him who's "The Favourite parent" out of the two, because he lets almost everything get slipped. he rarely finds it in himself to say "no" to his child. when his child grows up, he always presents himself as to be respected and therefore trusted person to his kid. he wants to be that one person who his kid will go to first, for any reason truly. he's very aware that his child is his own person at the end of the day, so he puts real effort into building trust between them, so he doesn't need to push child's buttons (not that he really wants to anyway). since the day his child is born he creates a lot of small family rituals that keep you all close even when the kid becomes an adult. he wants to do a good job at raising goodhearted, caring, hardworking individual, so he'll do his best at it. truly not a man, but a dream to raise a child with.
geto on the other hand is extremely protective. he witnessed a lot of horrors in his life, and he'll do anything to save his child from experiencing any of it. he's in his protective mode right from the get-go. he rarely leaves his child alone (you being an exception, and he can be quite arrogant about it, since he's probably stronger than you still). he's also the one who does the most unpleasant parts of early parenting (meaning changing diapers, waking up every 2 hours etc.) without ever complaining. it's not even that unpleasant in his mind, he knew very well what he was going into. his presence is very comforting to your child, so when it's his turn to be with a baby it means there's no crying in the nearest few hours. he is the most understanding parent you've met, or maybe it's just a fact that he genuinely just loves kids, loves spending time with them. he enjoys teaching his kid, he loves playing and doesn't find it draining. he's the "good" parent in early years of your child's life, he's the favourite because he's all smiles and laughs. but when the child is older and there's an argument between them, he can be downright manipulating (and he's very smooth with it). he has this ability to pull out every little secret out of anyone unaware of this skill of his, your child included. he needs to know absolutely everything about their life, not necessarily to control, but to know when to intervene if needed. unknowingly, he can be quite nosy. when met with resilience, he remains calm and patient. he never really gets mad. he genuinely doesn't like saying 'no' to his kid, and geto's 'no' still sounds really soft and gentle, yet all of you understand that he won't tolerate disobedience. his main motive is to protect his family, he'd go great lenght to do it. you'd be the "funny parent", the one who gives more freedom. firm believer that a little guilt tripping never hurt anyone. you should be the one to make him drop his antics. he panics when he loses control of situation. yet, even if he sometimes can be unbearable and oh so nosy, it's still very obvious that geto loves his child. in fact, he loves his child so much, the only thought of them being unhappy makes his heart ache. always subconsiusly thinks that he's the reason of every of his child's problem. he also goes through some sort of a crisis when the child starts to have a life of their own, because he thinks that now he's not the number one to your child he's done for. he's soooo upset.
2. hiromi higuruma is a strict parent, the good kind of strict. you have a schedule right from the get-go, you always have every toddler thing needed in stock. thank god for him, because of him you are able to actually rest from the very start of your journey, you even get to sleep regularly! is a very active father from the jump. it's as if he himself was born ready, but actually it couldn't be more further from the truth. the anxious kind of parent, he keeps track of everything and is exceptionally observant. he absolutely is not a favourite parent when the child is small - he's always too serious, too cautious. you are all fun and games, he is every rule imaginable. he will turn off the tv, he will tell you child to go to bed early. later, when the child grows to be an adult they will learn to appreciate this greatly, but in their teen years he's hell reincarnated. never yells, like really, never even raises his voice, which makes him incredibly annoying to have an argument with. he's extremely sharp and he would caught every lie your child tries to feed you. yet another smooth talker, And a lawyer - he may even smile, only a little, when your child tries to find a way to escape the rules he had set. he's very much open to discuss said rules, problem is, your child truly cannot win against his logic, because well, he is very intentional with these rules. he's fair, even your teen child would give him that. he has good reasoning for each and every one of them, and he will explain it to your child every time, without getting angry. he Is an annoying parent. but he's also a parent with unquestionable authority, a lot of knowledge and a really big bag of patience (unlike you). he's not like these parents that make friends with their children, he is a parent and he's very dutiful in this role. with time, a child learns to appreciate his wisdom and patient persistance, his open invites to discussion, his quick mind and ability to solve any problem on the spot, his sharp tongue and even his rules. the older his child gets, the better the relationship between them. now, suddenly, he's the favourite one. turns out, the rules were not strict at all - just good old common sense.
3. choso is an interesting case. he's the one who'd no doubt be the loving, very present, very active father from the start. he'd be happy to do basically anything, but he doesn't really know how to do, uh, again anything. needs a supervisor himself, though he learns fast, but your first months certainly won't be peaceful. he's so excited to meet new member of the family, he'd be on the front for every duty, and sometimes, loving him very much, you really wish he wouldn't. i think he thrives in the early years, he has the time of his life with your child, easily bonding and finding every activity meaningful. he's the absolute favourite in early years, you cannot beat him. however, soon it becomes clear that his experience as a cursed womb could get in your way. he can and he will get depressed because of the fact that your child grows up. and it's really deep for him, because he suddenly becomes very aware that the chance that he outlives his own kid is slim but very real. it haunts him the second he catches the changes in your baby, and it really only gets worse. with your help, hopefully he learns to manage it, but it never really goes away. has a very poor understanding of boundaries, which could become a problem later in your teen child's life. has trouble understanding people's needs and emotions because he's not a human, human problems sometimes could look like nothing to him. he's not minimising anything on purpose, but for your teen kid it sure could look like it. because he brings in everyone, yuuji would become a very prominent figure in your child's life and basically become a barrier between choso and your child, since only yuuji can really get his anxiety and give him the room to express his feelings. without supervision, could become overprotective and overbearing basically in seconds. not once, not twice your teen child would get into awkward situations that would include him. you have to step in at some point, because he struggles to have an authority over his child, and basically incapable of saying "no". but he's as honest as he can get, and he feels deeply, he senses the slightest change in the mood, and he won't leave your child's side until he figures everything out. loves his child deeply and unapologetically, and your child knows it and sometimes uses this to their advantage. basically, you have to look out so your child do not grow up spoiled, because of how loved and protected they feel.
4. in a very hypothetical situation, where ryomen sukuna even has a child, he is, surprisingly, not the worst. yes, he doesn't specifically wants a family and he's never thought of himself as a father, but! he has that interesting trait of being very curious. having a child is a completely new expirience to him and he might find it interesting to see where it all goes. he's no help at the beginning, in fact, this is the scariest part of his child's life because sukuna can very easily change his mind if he finds the kid too annoying. he despises the smell, he hates the crying and generally is sooo not fond of toddlers, he threatens you he'll eat it to end his sufferings (you know he won't, if he really meant it he'd already done it without constant whining in your ear). it's on you and uraume to handle the kid in peace and quiet far from the father, and he probably doesn't really see his child until much later. where he really shines, is when the child is slightly older (and with time he only gets better). him being an arrogant, may i say narcissistic creature, he won't allow his child to be any less than him. he has that idk mentor mentality in him? he enjoys educating his child, he thrives on being able to show off to someone who's so willing to learn. having a child really grows on him, when he finds himself excited to share his knowledge and skill, to help grow someone worthy of his attention. has a mean streak to him, sometimes he goes way over the line, but at some point he himself grows fond of child and won't cause any harm. he's willing to give a lot of freedom to his offspring, is not nosy at all, but can be very strict if needed. says "no" without skipping a beat. he has no care for child's emotional state, he truly doesn't and it's for the best if uraume or you deal with it. he may grow sliightly softer with time, but it's not a promise. has no desire to be "a father", the word means nothing to him. but his child (and since it's his, not some random kid) brings him joy and excitement for new beginnings. he probably won't be a father figure in a traditional sense, but if everything works out, his child could grow up fairly normal and quite confident, if not arrogant. all in all, not a terrible option, only for unfortunate turn of events when he finds his child stupid/talentless/lazy and said child most likely won't survive this conclusion.
5. poor gojo satoru. he loves kids, especially toddlers. he finds them more interesting than cute. tells innocent jokes on them, he's the one teasing a child constantly. is a great help at home at first, diapers won't scare him, though he would prefer someone else do it. he will be the favourite parent for the first years of your child's life, that's not a question. he's always fun, always smiley, never raises his voice and always lets your child get away with anything, basically spoil them rotten. however, the older the child gets, the harder it becomes for gojo to stay the favourite one. because of his status, he's often away and has a high risk of practically becoming an absent father. he always had a hard way building deep relationships with people, and it's usually another person's effort (be it geto or yuta, for instance) to build a deep emotional connection. he knows about that weakness of his, and he's deeply hurt seeing his child straying away from him. when his kid is not a toddler anymore and his old tricks won't work, he struggles to find a way with them. megumi is first to say that when gojo is not in his teacher mode, he's very much "how do you do fellow kids" type. he is one of those parents who try to befriend their kids, try to make themselves less threatening; in his case he'd fail miserably. in fact, this could very much backfire, making him lose any authority he has left in his house, since his child doesn't really care about his "the greatest one" status. he struggles to connect with a child emotionally. he can never get the right words, none of his actions work, and he's worried that his child is jelaous of his students. he won't let go of his title of being the first sorcerer, he doesn't really even know how, and he feels like that's the only thing he's really good for, so he won't let it go. it is a selfish decision in some ways, but he believes he does what's the best for everyone. his only saving grace is the help of others - yours, mainly, and the fact that he truly does love his child even if he doesn't really know what to do with it anymore. he feels lost and in despair. he is very sorry that he doesn't love his child as much as his child wants (the tragedy is that he does), it's another heavy burden on his shoulders, making him deeply unhappy. i believe that with time the relationship would get better between the two, but the emotional distance will remain, no matter how hard both of them tried to forget about it.
6. no surprise here, fushiguro toji. my guy is so not suited for this role. not because he's a deadbeat (even though he kinda is), but because he doesn't really loves or even wants children. he's not one of those guys who only want children to continue their bloodline - lmao, no. never, especially with his zenin blood. he's not fond of the very concept of it - he tolerates the marriage-children pipeline because of women that he had loved in his life, no more no less. he loves his children because they're continuation of the people that he loves, not necessarily because they're their own people, and certainly not because they're the part of himself. in fact, i believe that is partly the reason he can leave his children so easily without supervision of his partner - he doesn't really like himself, he doesn't like the "him" part in his children. moreover, he generally finds children boring, especially small ones. the situation is usually better if the child is slightly older or is a teen and he can bond with them easier. doesn't really know what to do, needs clear instructions on every step of the way. at some point he might actually try to be an active parent, mostly for his partner rather than for the child. but it's very forced, he won't last long. that could leave him even more unstable than he was previously. he's very self-aware. knows he's very capable of deep love and connection, it's just that he can't connect with a child like he could with an adult. an obligation to love the child (especially toddler) is not enough for him to actually feel that love. he doesn't find fatherhood interesting or fullfilling, and he feels guilty because he can't really do anything with it. he does the parenting because he loves his partner, he forces himself to be closer with his family, but without the support he will crumble in seconds. he will continue to do the bare minimum because of duty and remaining love for his partner, but no emotional support, no actual parenting on the sight. he is funny though, sometimes. doesn't help his case whatsoever.
