Books read in June 2025
Let's start by saying that I was still at home from work in June because of my car accident/knee injury. So, that makes it easier to read more.
1) I am legend by Richard Matheson: This was good one but also so, so bleak. I don't think I myself would be able to survive so long in a world filled with different types of vampires. The ending of this book is kinda briljant, no longer is man the standard, but vampires.
2) Tyler Green komt nooit meer vrij by Nicci French: I read this book in about 2 or 3 days, that's how well written it was and how interesting the story was. Can you imagine, going to prison for almost 30 years, being out for a few weeks and then BOOM, someone else dies and they all look at you again?! Tyler Green is a well adjusted man, all things considered.
3) The forgotten book club by Kate Story: Always nice to read a book where the main character is older. Grace is 69 in this one and still grieving over the death of her husband. Going to his bookclub is struggle at first but she makes new friends along the way.
4) The garden of memories by Amanda James: Again a book wit an older character who is dealing with her retirement and he death of her husband. His garden was his pride and joy and planting a plant or flower to remember a special someone is beautiful idea. She meets new people and makes new friends. But I love how this story doesn't end in the traditional way, sorry Tristan.
5) The silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris; A bit disturbing but also a book I could not put down. The fact that Hannibal escaped makes you glad he is fictional and not real.
6) The Dry by Jane Harper: A reread because I didn't remember a single thing from it. Only that I loved the character of Aaron Falk. And I still do. Also glad I don't life there, so much sun and heat is no god for any person.
7) Force of nature by Jane harper: Another reread of hers. The second book in the Aaron Falk series. Alice is not a nice person but you do still hope and pray she makes it out of that wildernes alive. I liked the changed chapters between the group (never go on a teambuilding from work, NEVER) and then after Alice is gone.
(Also, don't watch the movie if you've read the book. It's not the same, see post about it.)
8) Het skelet in de hanengang by Jo Claes; a novelle in the Thomas Berg series that isn't part of it officially. A skeleton is found in a basement and it turns out it's a 100 years old. Who killed this person and why? How do you even begin to try and solve this?
I enjoyed all of these and gave them all 5 stars. (I know, I'm not picky enough but they all entertained me and that's the main reason I read.)
