I often think about how when Jo Marlowe asked Olivia if she and Elliot ever… all Liv said was “he’s married”.
It’s a very interesting choice of words bc she could’ve said “no we work together” or “no it’s not like that” but she said “he’s married”. As if him being married was the only thing stopping them.
Which I think, at this point, it was. I feel that Olivia had kind of reconciled within herself that it wasn’t going to happen, esp after Eli was born, and she was okay with that even though she still loved him. But I think Elliot was lowkey letting his feelings for her take the reins just a little bit. He seems almost tired of fighting it. You can see it in the last two seasons quite a lot. In the “P.C” episode Jelliot pops up just a tiny bit here and there (hilarious tho). In “Spooked” that whole episode was a big Jelliot-Fest and tbh I’d need to write an essay about it. “Bullseye” with Erik Webber and her baiting him, even though that was for the case. I could go on and on.
The fact that the barrier between them is his marriage also plays well with the whole “I was afraid if I heard your voice I wouldn’t have been able to leave” thing (btw weak ass excuse for abandoning her for ten years but here we are).
