This story is written for @cerealboxlore as part of @fandomtrumpshate 2025! It is also a sequel to the fic Cursed City that I wrote for FTH last year though it can stand alone.

So excited to finally share this one with y'all!!!

Summary:

When a visiting senator from Gotham is nearly killed at an event in Fawcett City, Billy and his closest friends must search for the truth to set an innocent man free.

But as they dive deeper into the Jameson family's past they may just uncover much more than they bargained for.

What better way to celebrate than with a snippet from the fic I'm writing for you! I want to start posting next week so let's goooo!

Here is a snippet from Guilty Until Proven Innocent

“Please,” she begged again. “He’s my brother. I’ve only just gotten him back, I can’t lose him again. You understand that don’t you?”

Gods did Billy understand. Finding Mary, reuniting with her, had been one of the best moments of his life, right up there with gaining his powers and becoming Captain Marvel for the first time. Just the thought of losing her was enough to knock the breath out of his lungs.

Joane and Jerry Jameson had been separated even longer than him and Mary had been, their reunion brief and messy. They argued often, struggled to find common ground, and barely knew anything about each other. But Billy had never once doubted that they cared about each other. Despite everything else, they were still siblings, they were still family.

Billy had no idea how he could fix things when Jerry had been caught red-handed, but he couldn’t just let Joane down. If she believed her brother was innocent then he was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. People were innocent until proven guilty, so until he had concrete proof one way or the other, Jerry Jameson was an innocent man in his book.

“Of course I’ll help,” Billy said. “I promise we’ll figure out what happened here tonight.”

He’d find out the truth no matter what, if only for Joane’s sake.

I hope you've all enjoyed this story! I had a lot of fun writing it and fleshing out these wonderful side characters that rarely get a chance at the spotlight, even in our little corner of fandom.

Billy may be our main boy, but this story is ultimately about the Jamesons, so I knew I needed to give Joane a moment to really shine!

So buckle up and learn what's really been going on!

It turns out I have a lot more thoughts about the dynamics between the Jameson family than can fit properly in this fic! So if you want more ramblings from me about them, feel free to ask! Maybe you could even pick up a few hints I sprinkled in!

Chapter 2 of Cursed City is up!

We get a brief introduction to the Bromfields, Joane Jameson, and the mysterious stolen Amulet!

Its my first time writing Joane so I hope you enjoy her presence throughout this story!

🎂! I'd love to hear if you have any headcanons about Joane Jameson because she's currently my favorite character to mess around with my own HCs 😂

Ooh I love Joane too! Cursed City had me rotating her in my mind a lot!

I headcanon Joane as being the first woman in her family to go to college. Before the Fawcett Freeze women were just starting to more regularly get access to college and she was determined to get an education using her position at WHIZ to pay for her schooling. She moved to Fawcett to attend the local college (which is why her family wasn't frozen in Suspendium with her) and continued her classes once the bubble popped. She and her classmates all had to retake major courses to get caught up with the times after the decades they spent frozen, which has been a major headache for her trying to get her diploma.
