caught up a little too readily with a glass of wine in hand, she hardly realized in the process of catching up with an old face that they were missing out on the closing ceremony. despite it being just outside of the cafe’s door ---- ruby was content to stay put. until the SCREAM.
with emerald eyes wide, a glance darted towards joaquin; with palms against, she lifted herself away from the table. there was more than one type of scream in this world; more often than not they were varying degrees of screams of excitement or screams of h o r r o r. without a doubt in her mind, this one matched the latter category.
what NOW? did she truly wish to know? it was the same type of curiosity that killed one’s cat that drew her outside. cats, however, have nine lives. unspoken, but she could feel joaquin behind her as she pulled open the door greeted by those equally concerned, equally confused.
“what’s going on??” she asked of no one in particular right before she saw it. through her own eyes hazed in crimson. seeing it in others, her stomach dropped, her hands began to shake, clammy in a cold sweat.
face grown pale in no time, she brought a hand to wipe her eyes ---- trembling as she couldn’t clear them, as she couldn’t make it stop. were the blood not already streaming down her face, the tears would have stung. a panic within, desperate for it to stop, desperate to regain control of her body. a stream of red from nose and ears.
mind raced, unable to stray from the panic felt of wishing it to stop, the sensation of HELPLESSNESS. so surged it was dizzying as the dramatic hysteria within the redhead alone spread like wildfire. light in the head, within minutes her body shut down. had it even been minutes?? or second that felt as much.
fainted. collapsed at the puppeteer’s feet. what a day for reunions.
