the Fever overtook me
I'm not going to reblog it but I just saw a post besmirching John Rock (the man who invented The Pill) because he was Catholic and wanted the Pope to approve of oral contraception and I won't stand for it. He was a good man who challenged the norms/ideas of the public against premarital sex and birth control and his religion was what motivated his innovation. The Catholic Church was not/is not the only obstacle to healthy contraceptive methods but did influence the public and if he had been successful he would have massively improved women's health. The purpose was not to get rid of periods. It was for women to have healthy low risk sex in a natural way. I'm mad about this everyone who is like "I can't believe I have to have a period because some man decided it was healthy" like you still get spotting if you take it everyday and sometimes you even have a period or pms symptoms AND if you talk to the right doctor they'll perscription you enough to take everyday AND none of that is John Rock's fault he was trying to help you AND without him and his work we wouldn't have the shot, the patch, the implant, or the hormonal IUD AND shut up
