So this is a bingo entry for my "aftermath" square of the @spn-summer-rapecation I know the challenge is technically over but I had this one already in the works and really wanted to finish it anyway!

I’m still genuinely shocked every time I notice that the actor playing John has aged between seasons 😭

Like. Obviously he has. It’s been YEARS. Of course the man has aged. What did I expect, for him to remain physically frozen in 2005 forever???

But there’s something so weirdly nostalgic about seeing those years on his face. My brain still remembers him from when I was younger, so every time I see an older version of him there’s this tiny, almost childlike “oh… you got older” moment.

And then I remember that I got older too.

Maybe that’s the part that gets me. You watch these old shows thinking the past is sitting there waiting for you exactly as you left it, and then suddenly you notice the wrinkles, the grey hair, the changed faces — and realize time was passing the whole time.

Anyway. I’m emotional about a fictional dad aging.
