last year (2022, not that long ago) i read this absolute genius fic by @totallysilvergirl and it is long overdue to recommend this beauty out to my fellow johnlockers!
Drawn to Stars by Silvergirl
Explicit, Words: 109.272, Chapters: 60/60
Additional Tags (selection): Angst with a Happy Ending, Sherlock's Italian adventure, Jealous John, Mutual Pining, mutual misunderstandings, finally they talk about the Fall, First Time, First Kiss, can requited love last?, TFP never happened, Fanart, Multiple Pov, Seriously a REALLY happy Johnlock ending, Idiots in Love, Roberto Zanardi (OMC)
SUMMARY:
“Romantic entanglement, while fulfilling for other people—”
“—would complete you as a human being.”
After the Culverton Smith case Sherlock is clean, working, and looking for a romantic partner—since John has told him that’s what he needs. Shame John didn’t mention he was interested in that role himself, before Sherlock went off to Rome with a gorgeous Italian copper to try to fall in love and become a complete human being.
---
it is an absolute masterpiece. it got everything: angst, fluff, deep talks, intimacy, communication, jealousy, art talk (yes hello i love that okay?), (love) letters, writer john, beautiful description of the surroundings, fanart... do i need to keep on?
it captured me from the first chapter, i cried, i laughed - i felt it all for my two favorite bois. it broke my heart into a million pieces only to pick them all up and put them back together and cover it with a fluffy & healing layer of magic. basically binge-read this. yes it is long, and i've honestly been hesitant to read it because of its length but let me tell you it is 100% worth it and in the end it was over in no time (too soon!)
you already read Drawn to Stars?
-> check out all the lovely sequels!
Winter Light by Silvergirl
Explicit, Words: 7.742 , Chapters: 21/21
SUMMARY:
This is a hermetic universe, which for a few minutes a day has only two inhabitants. They don't even need names.
They wouldn't want to live always in such isolation, but in the winter light, when time cracks open, there are always—only—two of them.
---
winter fluff! i repeat! winter! fluff! my heart is happy remembering this :)

Teach Your Children Well by Silvergirl
Explicit, Words: 12.662, Chapters: 4/4
Additional Tags (selection): Angst with a Happy Ending, mutual misunderstandings, Old unhappy far-off things will bite you in the butt, Established Relationship, can requited love last?, POV John, A grown-up wedding
SUMMARY:
John decides to send Rosie to the local school a year early. Sherlock assumes he doesn’t want her becoming solitary, hyper-intellectual, hyper-focused—in other words, like Sherlock. It doesn’t help that Rosie’s prospective teacher is a dead ringer for Nicole Kidman, and is making overtures to John by text. But both fathers are wide of the mark: well, there’s always something, right?
---
silly bois being equally dumb but good at parenting/relationships in their very own way. Silver's version of Rosie is a kid you will admire for both: her intelligence and capability of love. (what can i say she is her fathers' daughter!)

---
a wedding told as a memory, and a honeymoon in italy. who wants more? oh, and they TALK! their conversations always have at least one quote in them you could live by!

dear @totallysilvergirl i love this universe with my whole heart. your writing style is beautiful, the plots amazing, the characters complex and lovable. thank you for writing this! you would have at least thrice as many kudos if ao3 let us give more, and girl do you deserve them!
*throws badly cut out paper hearts*
tagging some people so this gets spread around (ik lots of you probably already know this universe but... i can't think of a but)
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
It’s been six years since I’ve posted anything on ao3, and OF COURSE it had to be Sherlock related.
Summary:
“But, wasn’t it special? Meeting the same person week after week, same day, same hour… And it wasn’t as if it was just anyone. I don’t know if I could consider him a stranger anymore. We did engage in conversations - admittedly short, but conversations nonetheless - almost every day. And he was starting to warm up to me, I could tell. Hell, I certainly was warming up to him myself. There was one thing, though, that was preventing us from moving from strangers to acquaintances. I didn’t know his name!”
If, like me, you are the type of reader to constantly tell yourself ‘One last story before I go to bed’, this is for you. A wholesome story about how a stranger with attitude became the center of John’s world.
Because of this post and this post, and since today is Friday May 1st, here’s a list of some of my favorite AUs :) credit for rainglazed for starting this :)
John Was There series by iolre
Work In Progress - John is nearing the end of his 12-hour shift in the local ER when an overdose comes in. Little does he know that saving this patient will change the course of the rest of his life.
Doctor John is my favorite. I love this kind of au.
There But For The Grace Of John Watson by skyefullofstars
Work In Progress - While Sherlock grapples with his new-found feelings for John Watson, he faces a very real threat: John's kidnapping and shooting at the hands of James Moriarty. And the knowledge that the love of his life is being used to test an addictive drug - at the risk of John's sanity and life.
I LOVE this series. It’s angsty and emotional, complex, and captivating, and exactly my cup of tea.
Silver Linings Casebook by Belladonna_Q
Completed - An adaption of the movie Silver Linings Playbook - John Watson is a bi-polar man in London who has recently been released from a psychiatric hospital. He is desperate to get back with his wife Mary, but is legally banned from contacting her.Moving in with his parents to recover, John meets Sherlock, a depressed, recovering drug addict who engages in compulsive sex with almost everyone he meets.
I loved the movie, and I loved this fic.
A Case of the Fleeing Frenchman by PenelopeWaits
Completed - Captain James Watson and his son John have been protecting each other and their beloved Harriet for years. Where will true safety reside when a handsome sailing ship and her haunted captain arrive and he makes a shadowy proposal? This is a crossover with the myth of the Flying Dutchman. John is Senta.
I loved this kind of AU. It’s a good one for summer, and it’s clever and a really nice read.
Serving Time by yalublyutebya
Ao3 link
Completed - John is arrested and serves time for shooting the cabbie. A guilt-ridden Sherlock visits John to keep his spirits up throughout his prison term and they still become best friends (or maybe even fall in love).
I loved this AU of A Study In Pink. It’s seemingly accurate for prison and really enjoyable, with some pining and a dash of angst.
