*held under WML-GL02 license for educational purposes* This really cute dude is a lesser horseshoe bat that sadly hit a window in the out backs of the Forest of Dean. I was contacted in 2019 about this fella and safely stored it in my freezer. I’m so glad he’ll be going to the @johnmooremuseum where he’ll go with all the rest of the batties and teach children and adults about bats, their habitat and conserving them. 😊 I also did a timelapse of me mounting this guy to show you behind the scenes. They are very fiddly things and so strange to work with. They’re like bird and mammal but put together. And their anatomy is wild. Never seen anything quite like it. Wings are shiny at the moment due to the paint on tan. 😊🦇 Note: native bats are heavily protected and can only be preserved by a licensed taxidermist, the holder of the finished article must also have a license to hold mounted bats for educational purposes. #bats #museum #naturalhistory #lesserhorseshoe #johnmooremuseum #taxidermy #taxidermist #taxidermyart #artist #curios #ethicallysourced #wildlife #nature #bat #🦇 #mammal #ukwildlife #taxidermybat https://www.instagram.com/p/CN-2tbJJR9x/?igshid=1l0yjozvm7g9m
