Easygoing rocksteady charm, smooth and soulful
I love how this track glides rather than rushes, letting the rocksteady rhythm do the talking while the melody wraps itself around you.

Johnny for @spacesquidz on Artfight. I drew a reference for my boy a long time ago and it definitely needed a redraw.

Send a letter to Missouri Governor Michael Parson urging him to stop the execution of Johnny Johnson.
Send a message to Missouri Governor Michael Parson urging him to stop the pending execution of Johnny Johnson and honor the sanctity of life.
The state of Missouri plans to execute Johnny Johnson on August 1, 2023 for the murder of Cassandra “Casey” Williams.
Johnny has had a troubled life. He was retained in kindergarten and first grade, suffered several head injuries before he turned 10, and dropped out of school in the ninth grade.
By the time Johnny was 18, he had been admitted to psychiatric facilities four times. When he was 20, a psychiatrist noted that Johnny heard voices telling him to kill himself or hurt others.
When he was incarcerated as an adult, Johnny was diagnosed with schizophrenia, among other disorders, and there was reason to be concerned about suicidal behavior.
After being released, Johnny stopped taking his prescribed medications and was likely in a state of psychosis when he killed Casey Williams.
The Eighth Amendment, which protects us from cruel and unusual punishment, bars the execution of someone who does not have a “rational understanding” of the reasons for their execution. Indeed, Johnny’s significant mental health issues suggest that he likely lacks such an understanding.
The state of Missouri ought to conduct a formal hearing to determine if Johnny is competent for his scheduled execution.
Please contact Governor Parson today, and urge him to use his executive clemency power to grant a stay of execution for Johnny, allowing time for this competency hearing to take place.
Catholic Teaching on Capital Punishment
Executions are fundamentally incompatible with a consistent ethic of life. The Catholic Church teaches that the death penalty is unacceptable in all cases because it is "an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person" and urges people of goodwill to "work with determination for its abolition worldwide" (Catholic Catechism 2267).
It's early Spring in Appaloosa Plains and while the weather is too cold for swimming, the kids have fun on the beach playing tag and building sandcastles. Vinnie cooks hamburgers on the barbecue, and they are thick and juicy and delicious. Alistair wants to go on the paddle boats. Georgina and Philippa aren't keen, but Vinnie says he will take Alistair out. The man who operates the boats smells of stale cigarettes and has long lank hair and grey stubble, and Vinnie haggles the price with him until they reach some type of agreement, the man grumpily telling Vinnie that he hopes he appreciates what a great bargain he's getting. He also asks Vinnie how old his son is.
"Eight,” says Vinnie. The fact that the man thinks Alistair is Vinnie's son, and that Vinnie doesn't bother to correct him, makes an excited happy feeling fizz through Alistair's chest.
