look I think there's a really fun opportunity for JohnnyPeterMJ fic set during Peter and MJ's early 2000s separation, when MJ is out in California modeling and starring in a big budget action movie. what's more profile boosting than a fake relationship with her estranged husband's famous best friend who she knows has been in love with him since they were sixteen. put them on the red carpet and send peter through the ceiling.

And i just thought this is PeterJohnnyMJ to me and then I remembered your fic in the MC2 universe and I thought, this is definitely PeterJohnnyMJ

He IS the stray cat they had to coax out from under the porch with tuna. And by tuna I mean a threesome. It's all a trap for tender love and care.

I think it's interesting with MC2, because I'm not sure if it's discussed when exactly Johnny and Lyja get together with Lyja as Lyja (and I'm not rereading Fantastic Five), but it probably means the majority of Johnny's "celebrity" relationships get skipped -- because in 616, post-Lyja, there's a definite turn in the kind of relationships he gets into, where it's not that he doesn't want that true love, because he clearly does, but where I think these "celebrity" relationships feel safer to him. So I think there's an interesting place with Peter and MJ both because Peter knows him and MJ is like him. She has trauma with a stalker, she's been treated similarly in show business, she's had people try to ruin her career, like, she gets it, and she had to learn how to lean on Peter herself. So between the two of them, it's harder for him to put on that party boy persona and hide.

Anyway, Johnny's asleep between the two of them and MJ and Peter are quietly highfiving over his head.

I’m still working on it! I don’t think I’ve like, actually retired any project I’ve mentioned this year, which could be part of the problem, but. I’m definitely still working on it:

“Ohno,” Mary Jane said as they walked into the restaurant.

Theywere late, of course; even now that he’d hung up the tights, Peter couldn’tseem to shake that habit. Although the thirty-five minutes it had taken MaryJane to decide between three identical, as far as Peter could tell, littleblack dresses hadn’t exactly helped, either.

Johnnywas there already, seated at a lovely candlelit table – and he wasn’t alone. Thewoman next to him was a striking blonde in a slinky emerald dress, and Peterrecognized her instantly as the person known to the press as Laura Green, theHuman Torch’s fiancée, and to Johnny’s inner circle as one of the many facesLyja wore.

Johnnyhad brought her with him. Peter could feel the scowl setting on his face, evenas Mary Jane repeatedly jabbed an elbow into his side.

“Okay,so new plan,” she whispered.

Therewasn’t any time for a new plan, though – Johnny had already spotted them andwas waving them over, one of his bright, fake smiles pasted on his face. Peterfelt the urge to snap at him that there weren’t any cameras pointed his way sohe didn’t have to pretend so hard to be happy.

“Playnice,” Mary Jane warned in an undertone. “At least for right now. Hi, Johnny!”

“Hey,MJ,” Johnny said, getting up to press a kiss to her cheek. Something deep inPeter’s chest went warm at the comfortable way his hand settled against herback. “Pete. You guys are late. Again.”

“AndI see you started without us,” Peter said. If this worked out, he realized,then he would be leaning in to kiss Johnny’s cheek too, or maybe turning hishead at the last second so their lips met. Mary Jane might accuse him ofcheating, wrap her hand around Johnny’s tie, and pull him in for a kiss of herown.

They’dlook so good together, with her red hair and his blond, both of them modelbeautiful. Peter wanted to strip both of them down and photograph themtogether. Webbing optional, but preferred.

Hetook a steadying breath as he pulled out a chair for Mary Jane. There’d be timefor that later. Right now, he needed to think restaurant appropriate thoughts.

“Justdrinks,” Johnny said. “I know how you hate a wine list. Don’t you trust me?” 

“Withmy life?” Peter said, taking a seat. “Sure. With my dinner? No.”

hey there! i was wondering, what are some canon interactions between johnny and mj? i've been really getting into peter/mj/johnny lately but i'm quite quite sure how that dynamic would be like

I’m so into Peter/MJ/Johnny and totally wish there was any more of it so this is a very exciting ask to get. There isn’t actually THAT much MJ&Johnny interaction – pretty soon after Peter revealed his identity to Johnny, Brand New Day happened and the Spider-Marriage was off, and Peter and Johnny really didn’t spend that much time together out of costume before the identity reveal, but there’s still some good stuff. One thing I think works in PeterMJJohnny’s favor in terms of compatibility is that MJ and Johnny aren’t really dissimilar people. They’re both fun-loving, vivacious celebrities, incredibly intuitive in spite of the faces they put on for the public, and very warm. Also, I think they should go shopping for brightly patterned clothes together. But it’s because they’re not dissimilar characters, it’s easy to see how they would get along with each other and also how Peter acts around both of them. (Not to get off topic, but I do think Peter Parker In Love is a pretty distinct piece of characterization. He’s a “break the dial off at 11″ kind of person when it comes to deep emotion in general, but love is really something special, and I don’t think that changes too much depending on who he’s with. Real love is always going to be something that’s all consuming where he’s concerned. How who he’s with reacts to being loved on that level is of course a totally different story.)

Well there’s not a lot of content actually on panel, it is established that after Peter’s identity was revealed to Johnny, he and Mary Jane (and May) spent a lot of time with the Fantastic Four, including at least one Christmas:

It’s clear Johnny and MJ like each other and get along well, despite the limited amount of canon they share:

And when Johnny needs a place to hide out in Amazing Spider-Man 700.5, he ends up first at Peter’s place and then Mary Jane’s apartment, where they hug:

“There she is with that dreamboat husband of hers!” (Web of Spider-Man #73 – Johnny and MJ don’t really talk in this issue, but it’s an interesting issue featuring both Johnny and Peter&MJ attending a gallery show together pre-identity reveal, so it might be worth checking out if you’re trying to nail them all down together.)

There are also two other alternative continuity series you might want to hit up for content: Ultimate Spider-Man and MC2′s Spider-Girl. In Ultimate Spider-Man, the universe where Spider-Man is actually in high school for longer than five minutes, Johnny and MJ become friends after Liz Allan sends MJ over to ask Johnny, the new boy at school, out for her. It’s cute:

MC2′s Spider-Girl, home of the Hot Dad Peter content, stars Peter and MJ’s teenage daughter, May, who has inherited her father’s powers along with his lust for vigilantism. In it Peter and Johnny are still close friends:

Again, there isn’t really a lot of MJ and Johnny interacting specifically, but when Peter lost his leg – the incident that caused him to give up being Spider-Man – it was Johnny who contacted MJ:

Here’s Peter and Johnny intimidating the boy Mayday’s with, while Johnny rests his hand tenderly on Peter’s arm, a panel from Spider-Girl #82, a panel I like to bring up whenever possible and one where I had apparently already at some point in the past saved with the hands helpfully circled. I want Peter and MJ to seduce Johnny into getting a divorce and moving in with them so everyone can win.

(One last sidenote: I truly believe that Mr. and Mrs. Superfreak would completely wreck Johnny in the bedroom, and he’d love it.)
