Johnny Silverhand pt.2
2020 ahh meme
Cancel this man 🤬🤬🤬
It is smells good.
Game: Cyberpunk 2077
Just stumbled across the take about Kerry Eurodyne that is so bad, I fell in love with it a little.
Amazing.
upd: I think I want to talk about it, because fuck, I love this element of the CP2077 story.
Let's just forget for a moment about victim-blaming and how codependency is a very real problem that people suffer from and get back to Johnny fucking Silverhand.
Here's the thing about him: he ended his life with something so big and horrible that it completely erased him as a person from everyone's consciousness, even his closest friends.
Johnny literally haunts the narrative in the same way that he haunts V. He's that Samurai guy, the unhinged, drug-addicted rocker boy from a barely-known band who went cyberpsycho and killed thousands of people in the Arasaka Tower. That's how he's remembered! You can visit the memorial and see how exactly this one guy haunts the Night City itself!
Rogue –who I guess is also a massive weirdo because she can't get over Johnny– keeps asking him to pretend it's 2015 again during their date, but she herself can't do it, so she abruptly finishes the date and walks away. She can't pretend even for a moment that Johnny is, was, a horrible, messy person she loved. He's a fucking symbol now.
Same with Kerry. He's an insanely talented artist. All his fame, all his money, he made for himself. Samurai was a very niche band , all of Kerry's accomplishments are his, and he made them not because of but in defiance of Johnny's actions. And yet, if you read the articles about him and his music that are scattered around his mansion, the figure of the long dead Johnny Silverhand still looms over his entire life.
Just like Rogue, Kerry can't get over Johnny because Johnny's final act casts such a large shadow over his entire life. Samurai is still mentioned in every single article about Kerry. It's been over 50 years, and Kerry is still trying to escape that shadow, still working against Johnny to be recognized as an artist.
Who's obsessed with whom in this scenario?
loosing yourself
I have noticed a pattern.
I'm replaying Cyberpunk again after years of not paying attention to it and...yall...this is Lucanis, but cyber'd out!! The parallels are AMAZING!! Johnny is programmed to take over...Spite was summoned to take over. The host doesn't want to give up their autonomy to the new thing living in them. Johnny and Spite have to learn about the new world they now live in THROUGH their hosts. And it's up to them to make the choice to bargain with the host vs just take over. (And Johny is pretty Spiteful from the jump). I'm crying and gaming and I love it...and hate it bc I'm sobbing.
