This picture isn't even a trick of perspective, the hulk mallet is quite literally a hulk. This has been a Monday of Monday's and I just can't wait to smash something with this beast. But first I have to fix the handle attachment. I wasn't thinking 3D enough when I tried to trim it up a bit and cut it in about 1/4" too short. Shouldn't be a problem, though, just a minor setback. Green dye test for the #hulkfistmallet was a success. The bottle says "emerald city" which turned out a pretty hulky looking green on the fir and red oak. The sample is an end grain offcut with some face grain on the side. It's not sanded that well, but I think it's a good POC. The center part that looks darker got 2 coats. This test also helped determine that there won't be a need for black highlighting (darklighting?) the details. Check my stories for the boring and silent application of dye on the interior, which looked terrible.
